J.K. Rowling is conjuring up more tales of witches and wizards and will be making her debut as a screenwriter.

Warner Bros. Entertainment has announced an "expanded creative partnership" with the Harry Potter author, and at the center of the relationship will be a new film series that is inspired by Harry Potter's Hogwarts textbook Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for seventeen years, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world," said Rowling. "The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt's story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry's gets underway."

Didn't you read,its neither a prequel or sequel..although it is set in the wizarding world, it is completly unrelated to the harry potter series..
nd besides, jo already has written three books after the release of deathly hallows the book.
one of them is fantastical beasts and where to find them. The other is quidditch through the ages and other is tales of beedle the bard. Do read. The movie will also b related to the book somehow cause jo is writing the screen play..
and for the harry potter magic... it will never ever be ruined.. cause it will live forever in our hearts...

@Besharam: Its loosely connected to Harry Potter, it set around 1920's. It just uses the world of HP and is more of an extension rather than a sequel/prequel.

Personally I'm willing to give it a chance before ruling it off as a simply cash cow. This is probably cos am HP starved.

i dont think that it will be a waste of money cause JKR is writing the screenplay and u gotta love her writing:p
