Opinions are divided whether Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is as popular as mega superstar Amitabh Bachchan on 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'.

'Kaun Banega Crorepati' was scrapped in January last year following Bachchan's illness, but was revived last week with 41-year-old SRK at the helm.

The programme usually draws millions of viewers with huge money tied to advertising sales.

But according to a news report, SRK's popularity as the host of the show is no match for his predecessor Bachchan.

Star Entertainment India television channel restarted the show on January 22, and a random survey shows that audiences have given SRK the thumbs down, a leading daily newspaper reported.

The data compiled by India's Television Audience Measurement for the first four days showed a television viewership rating, or TVR, of 12.33. Bachchan, 61, had a bigger four-day audience in August 2005 with a 19.75 rating, the daily said.

The paper did not provide the margin of error, and the show remains India's most popular.

However, Star Entertainment India didn't agree with the findings.

The number of people "reached" on SRK's first day was 23 million compared to Bachchan's 18 million, Paritosh Joshi, the network's president in charge of advertising and distribution said, according to the newspaper.

Joshi's figures are based on those who watched the gameshow for at least a minute.

The TVR, on the other hand, gives the number of people who sat through the hour-long programme.

So, is SRK as popular as Bachchan on KBC? It's for you to decide.

No need to worry...srk will be everntually popular ..Coz he is more friendly and energetic.... I love watching him on KBC... he portraits the real himself on the screen...and thts wot i lyke about him.. 😳 .... i started to like srk from KBC... i know this is weird.. 😕 but i do... btw... i lyke them both...i dont belive in comparing these two actors... 😳

I also don't believe in comparing the two of them. AB is an older actor with many more years of experience. SRK has energy and youth on his side.

THey both have something to offer. It's actually unfair to compare the two of them.

I am enjoying SRK and since AB opted out, there is nobody better than SRK to do it. WHo else could do it after AB?

SRK is doing a good job especially with excessive comparisons he has to deal with .

Just imagine what Abhishek has to deal with all the time.

i think nowthat BIG B didnt quit KBC on his own..there must have been some rift there..

amithabh seems to be really upset about the whole thing.i hope he keeps quite for a while..news channels are already commenting on his petulant and childish attitude..

it will only help the underdog..in this case(KBC)shahrukh is new and and learning..

i who havent been watching kbc so far...I am inclined to now..what with all the media machinery that Ab has unleashed on us.(TIMES NOW channel for which AB started the "one india" campaign doesnt even pretend to be balanced..)He is all over the place making snide remarks 😡
i was thrilled with the ash-abhi engagement.but now with the medial overkill I dread that i have to watch it for the 36,0781 th time!!!

SRK n BigB are like almost on the same level now!

Generally, ppl nowadays prefer the newer stuff than the old stuff. Jus like how thy prefer SRK over Big B.

BUT....Deep down in their hearts thy still hv a soft spot for oldies...jus like how thy still hv a soft spot for the BigB.

why r ppl comparing them kahan ab kahan srk still srk has acheived a lot at his preset age

shahrukh is good in his way and he is a perfect host
we love him immensely

both r diff. & unique on dhr way.. 😳
