The big picture
John Abraham probably has the most enviable DVD collection in the film industry: 6,000 films and still counting.
And we're not just talking about Hollywood flicks here.
John's into world cinema too and watches a lot of Polish, Iranian and French films.
Says John, "It's the only thing I shop for when I go aboard.I pick up as many DVDs as I possibly can."
What's more, Johnny boy isn't stingy about his collection.
He'll lend his films to anyone who promises to take good care of them. And you thought he only loved bikes!
Neeru v/s Neeru
During the filming of the finale episode of Bigg Boss, Amit Sadh's secret biwi Neeru looked through pretty much every other contestant.
An eye witness revealed, "Neeru is a very private person. She was very put off by the show and everyone associated with it, so she chose to keep her distance.
When Rakhi (her real name is Neeru too!) came up to her to say hello, Neeru just gave her a cold stare forcing her back into the corner she had crawled out of!" Kash bani Ash!
Kashmera Shah danced to Crazy kiya re for the finale, but few know she was initially slated to groove to Mallika Sherawat's Maiya Maiya from Guru (Rupali eventually danced to that track).
We hear she developed cold feet and chose the Ash number instead. A little birdie says, "Kash threw her weight and got her song changed. Her point was that she didn't want to be in the same league as Mallika, as she thinks she has more class."
Eh? Kash dahling, allow us to spell this out for you loud and clear. Dancing to "Ash's song" doesn't put you in the same league. Oh, the delusions these starlets suffer from… Aryan: I've moved on If the contestants of Bigg Boss were right about one thing, it's the Aryan-Anupama romance. Pretty much everyone felt that Aryan was really feeling the love, while Punna was just… well… feeling him up!
And sure enough, Verma booted Vaid out of her life as soon as she was booted out of the show.
What's more, she even lashed out at poor Aryan during the finale blaming him for "being a different person outside the show."
The truth, dahlings, is that Punna is now a bonafide celebrity and is being courted by several strapping young things. It's the 'so many men, so little time' syndrome.
But Aryan isn't singing 'Jab dil hi toot gaya, hum jee ke kya karange' either. He's moved on. Atta boy!
Upen's flop flaps
Upen Patel really needs to explain this.
The self-proclaimed stud of Bollywood is often seen sporting rather formal shirts with shoulder flaps that look… well… sort of silly.
Since you reeeeeally love to wear these flaps, don't you think it would go much better on dressed down, casual shirts instead?
If you're asking us, all we can say about his fashion funda is that Upie looks like a bus conductor shouting, "Ticket! Ticket!" Tee hee.
Juhi turns prankster
A few days ago, several fans barged onto the sets of Kumkum demanding that they be allowed to click photographs with Juhi Parmar. The actress, who was in the vicinity in her new avatar as Santo the Haryanvi, decided to play a little prank on her gullible visitors.
She went up to the fans and said in the character's Haryanvi accent, "Juhi will be here in few minutes. In the meantime, would you like to click some pictures with me instead?"
Apparently, Juhi told them she was a junior artist called Santo and the visitors willingly obliged. After a while, they became impatient when Juhi still didn't show up. Only when she removed her ghoonghat did they realise it was Juhi herself who had posed for pictures!
Ashmit's day out
The first day of the Festival of Wind and Fire held at the CPRA Gardens (Cuff Parade), hosted by Indigo Kids, saw some famous names in attendance, including Queenie Dhody, Ashmit Patel, Raell Padamsee and Parizaad Kolah. Indigo Kids is a venture started by three young mothers — Pinky Daga, Ekta Shah and Sheetal Savani.
IK was born out of a vision to offer internationally researched programs and events designed to nurture each area of a child's personality development.
| I'm honoured: Sunil Grover | Champu and the pot seat!
The first episode of Filmy's Kaun Banega Champu — a spoof on Kaun Banega Crorepati — will air on Sunday, February 11 at 7.30 pm.
The weekly show will feature Sunil 'Lallan' Grover as Ruk Ruk Khan, while comedian Suresh Menon will play the celebrity guests on the 'pot seat'. And get this: the show's promotional line goes, 'Kuch sawaal aapki zindagi barbaad kar sakte hain!'
Unlike KBC3's grand Rs 2 crore bounty, Champu will have no cash prizes but FILMY giveaways like Jumma ka chumma, Jadoo ki jhappi, Kholi No 420 and Maa ka aashirwaad.
Commenting on the show, Grover says, "Playing a role inspired from a superstar like Shah Rukh Khan is an honour. The show will offer unadulterated humour and entertainment without running anyone down.
But I'm looking forward to the bouquets as well as the brickbats." So, Champu ko freeze kiya jaaye?
