After a gap of 10 years, Khiladi No. 1 gets a call from Aditya Chopra; signs film with Yash Raj Films

After a decade-long stalemate, Akshay Kumar has made peace with director Aditya Chopra, and has gained admittance to what the actor had himself referred to as the 'Yash Raj school of acting' in an earlier interview. Akshay's last film with the Chopras was Dil To Pagal Hai way back in 1997.
Akshay has all reasons to fly high as he has been offered not one but two films by the prestigious banner. One of the two films will be directed by Vinay Krishna Acharya also known as Victor. Victor wrote the screenplay and dialogue for both Dhoom films.
A close friend of Akshay says, "Yes, Akshay is back in the Yash Raj camp. Akshay had done Dil To Paagal Hai in 1997, but after that he had a problem with Yash Chopra and they never worked together again. After a gap of all these years, Akshay got a call from the production house and met with Aditya Chopra, who offered him two films. He has signed Victor's film. It promises to be a slick action film and is expected to go on the floors by June next year. As for the second film, nothing has been finalised yet."
What is the reason behind this sudden reconciliation between the two parties? "Akshay's films have begun to set the cash registers ringing at the box-office. And a lot of producers have been queuing up to sign him. I guess Yashraj films took notice of that," our source says.
Away in New York currently with wife Twinkle and son Aarav, Akshay has a triple celebration going on. Our source says, "Besides reconciling with the Chopras, Akshay has also been named the youth icon of WAYE, which is the biggest NGO supported by Sri Sri Ravi Shanker across 146 countries. Thirdly, he is happy with the response to his latest film Bhagam Bhag. Akshay is very superstitious and that's why he goes off to other countries before his films release."

As a film journalist not only do I interact with stars but also get a chance to meet their children. While most star children are spoilt brats, some come across as angels. My recent interaction with Akshay and Twinkle's son Aarav made me realise that you need to have a child's heart to be genuine. It's known that Akshay Kumar is a doting father. Whenever he is in Mumbai, he would fetch his son Aarav from his playschool and have lunch with him. On one such day, I was lucky enough to be with Papa Kumar while he was on his way to fetch his baccha from play school. While we were on our way back to Lokhandwala, the car stopped at a signal. A young lady with an infant in her lap started begging for food. While we both were busy chatting, I noticed that Aarav promptly took out his tiffin box and offered the tiffin to the young woman at the signal.
Aap yeh le lo, mein ghar ja ke khaunga!" (You have this, I will have my food at home), he murmured to the beggar. It was one of the most beautiful sights I have seen in a long time. Aarav has been one of the most well-behaved kids I have come across. I was expecting Akshay to come up with a witty remark and I was not wrong. The actor said, "Baap logon ka cheen ke khata hai, aur beta khud ka khana de deta hai!" We laughed it off, knowing that it's Akshay and Twinkle who have groomed Aarav so well.
