One week passed by since meera came home...Her parents had stayed back with her while her brothers went back .. Now it was time for meera's parents to leave too. In this past week, they had tried hard to make meera come back to normal...but it was hard.. still meera's physical health improved and she was regularly taken for health check ups.. Shekhar used to frequently visit ...He tried a lot to strike a conversation with meera...but he could not... Meera used to mention sameer in every line that she spoke...and then memories used to hit her badly...
"Meera beta...If you say...we can stay for few more days... or you just come with us for sometime... " Meera's mother asked meera worriedly ..but she calmly replied..they should go as they had already spend so much time away from home..She needed sometime to be alone..she didnt say..but they understood...Meera's father looked at her daughter and sighed...He wished there was something that he could do for his daughter...He came close to her and put a hand on her head...saying...
"Take Care Beta...You know that we are just a call away..Whenever you need...You are not alone..."
Meera acknowledged and hugged her parents...She knew they were helpless for her..When she was small..she used to ask them for anything and they used to get it..but this time ..she knew they wont be able to...fulfil her wish...
Soon they left meera...and she was alone in the room...looking over her fate...then a hand came on her shoulder...
"Maa... "
Gayatri had come and stood by watching her looking outside window..Who else but she could understand what she was going through...Sameer was her only son... and she could feel pain that he left behind for her and meera...
"Beta... Its been more than a month now..I know no time can heal our wounds..but ..."
Her voice choked ..but she wanted to be strong for her daughter...only one left with her..When sameer brought meera to his house..she got a daughter along with a son...from then onwards they had shared a bond as strong as meera shared with her own mother...
"Maa...i have nothing left...nothing can be done about it... But dont you worry maa..I will live.. I wont leave you like sameer left..."
Saying that she hugged her Maa...yes she chose to live in darkness that her fate had brought in her life... She had only memories to live by...She had decided to live in those for the rest of her life...
Next day it was time for meera to go for her health check up and thus there he was without fail even before the time...
"Doctor said that one more week of medication..and few tests today...Your BP looks normal now just someother tests are left.." Shekhar was seeing all the past reports and speaking ..but meera was in her thoughts..
"I think we should leave now.. Its getting late.. " Shekhar said ..seeing no response from meera...he came near to her and gently put a hand on her shoulder...
"Meera..I said lets go.."
"Haa..oh yes..lets go.." Meera came out of her thoughts..suddenly she realised something..
"Shekhar.. you are not going to your office today..? "
"Err...Well I thought I will take leave today..."
"Why.. "
"Nothing just thought ..you will require me..so..."
"But why you always put me first ... You know I dont like this...I can take care of myself...i m not a kid..please stop this ..."
Shekhar knew this was coming...
"We can have this argument later...lets go for now... "
He was adamant...Meera had no option but to go with him...She had always seen him doing things for her..which sometimes made her feel guilty..and sometime angry... why cant he leave her alone..to suffer ..but she knew he cant..she knew that he will suffer along... as always... her pain was no different to him than his own...She sighed..and quietly followed him...
They took permission from Gayatri and left .When they left ...Gayatri thought how caring he was for her...She blessed this man for being like God sent angel in her daughter's life...
After the check up Shekhar took meera to his place ...Where he used to come when feeling low... A small garden away from the city..just around outskirts...It was a beautiful place...surrounded by a lake..a cool wind blew in the air...
Kitni baatein kehne ki hain...
hooton par jo sehmi si hain...
Ek roz inhe sun lo...

"Where are we...?" Meera asked
"I thought ...its been long since you been to some other place than hospital and your own room.." Shekhar parked the car and looked at her
"As if it matters...nothing changes shekhar.. lonliness will haunts everywhere..."
He wished she saw him always by side...the moment she talked of being lonely. She got down of the car and he followed..There was a calmness around..Flowers around were beautiful...and lake had reflection of sun setting across horizon...She sighed remembering the time when she last went out with Sameer..
"Sameer always liked sunset view on lake side...specially when reflection comes in water.."
More he wanted to take his memories out of her life...more he brought her closer to it...Shekhar wanted meera to move on...but these memories were all left for her...
After an hour of sharing things of sameer ...meera was sitting silently beside lake when she realised it was already dark and stars had come up...She looked around and saw shekhar silently sitting beside listening to everything she was saying...She gently smiled..
"I am so sorry shekhar... I always upset you with my sad story..."
"Lets go... Aunty will be waiting for you back home...and Maa for me too..."
As she started going...he held her hand...She turned to look ..He stood up and came close...
"Meera...I know its hard...But cant you try..."
Meera looked at his eyes...They were brimming with tears...silently pleading
"Meera...I wanted to say something..."
"What.."
"Meera...can we start a new beginning..."
"Can we ...Meera... Will you..." He felt an uneasiness ...it was always difficult for him to express his emotions...but when it came to her...he knew this was the only time...
"What you mean..." Meera questionly looked at him
"Marry me..." He finally managed to put across only this much...and meera was too shocked to react... seeing so many questions in meera's eyes...
"I know ...you will always have sameer in your heart...but ..will you allow me... to love you throughout my life... I just want you to not feel alone..I will be right there..if not beside...just behind you... You dont need to look back..Just have this faith that there is someone looking out...there is someone who is ready to fill your life ..with love...with care...with joy...I just need to see you happy ...thats all... and if ever you feel the need of love again in your life...I will be waiting yes like always ..."
a tear came out of his eyes...he didnt know how he said those words...but they came out so easily in that moment...
She moved back from him..still looking at what her best friend was saying...was it all real... is it a joke...what was going on...this was not supposed to ever come in their friendship... She looked up ...
"Why..." she questioned...
"Cause, I love you..."
