Bollywood Film Music Getting Worse

I think bollywood have lost their real essence in music ... Earlier there use to be sensible melody wid melodious voices like Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan and Sonu Nigam... Sonu Nigam is now d only quality singer bollywood have till today after him i think Rahat have done some good stuff besides...now a days with the help of softwares pitch correcting techniques every other person is becoming a playback singer and there is no melody in todays songs ... The last album i liked was Aashique 2 it had good songs plus impressive singing btw now a days every other singer sound same i just miss the oldy of my generation album like Veer Zaara . Haan maine bhi pyar kiya hai of early 2000's is d perfect example of true melody and classic sweet singing which is missing in today's song ...now a days songs are more of ringtone whats ur take on it

As they say old is gold. Music these days are just pure form of entertainment. They don't have soulful melodies or beautiful and meaningful lyrics anymore.

I haven't really been into BW music for a number of years now. It's just not the same. I much prefer Hindi music up until the early 2000s. Unless someone recommends a song to me, I wouldn't know one from the other. I do make it a point to check out Amit Trivedi's work though after having watched Aamir & Udaan few years ago. But other than that, just don't care much.

I absolutely agree. There is no denying I have got a lot of songs from now but a lot of the songs I have on my laptop are mostly from the early 2000's and even from the 90's some are a few 80's songs and since I am a big Rafi fan have quite a lot of songs from that era as well. And as CPR said the lyrics back then were more meaningful but now some songs I hear on TV are just useless. I hate the idea of English words used in a Hindi song because it just doesn't fit, Amit Trivedi however has done some good songs but you cannot beat the likes of Taal or some music from Rahman because he just had that type of music where it would just make me feel the music. Even with lyrics I just loved the likes of Javed Akhtar and Gulzar their lyrics are beautiful. Some of the words in Urdu used in some songs was just amazing.

I miss Jagjit Singh's songs :(
