Hey guys, I'm finally here! I don't know whether it's faster than last time though. I couldn't update because my cousins had come and I was sick so sorry. Feel free to throw jhootas and chappals.

Chapter-4: Of Picnics and Surprises

Asad woke up to see Kumud's head on the wall next to his side table. He saw her hand holding his hand. Not wanting to make it awkward for her, he lied back down and waited for her to wake up and think he was still sleeping. Around 15 minutes later, Kumud woke up to see Asad and saw her hand on his. She quickly removed her hand and walked out of there. As soon as she reached her bed, last night's memories came back to her. She thought to herself, "I'm completely in love with Asad. Definitely took lesser time than I expected. I thought I'll fall in love with him only after at least 4 months."

Her realization made her calmer and much more pleasant towards Asad. Everyone was surprised to see the change in her. Most surprised of all though was Asad.

Some days after her realization, Vidyachatur and Guniyal came along with their own family to Bhopal to meet Kumud. They were planning on staying in a hotel nearby but on Dilshaad's insistence, stayed at their house itself.

Kumud as soon as she reached the house with Nuzhat and Asad was shocked to see the whole family there. She was very happy and tears started streaming down her face. Asad, who was standing next to her wiped her tears and raised his eyebrows at Dilshaad, and then gave her a half hug. Dilshaad glared at him and seeing him not removing his hand came forward and said, "Asad, these are Kumud's parents, and behind them is her whole family," and then made a expression indicating him to remove his hand from her shoulder. Asad removed his hand and kept it behind his back and turned red.

"Oh, this is your son Asad. He's become so big since I last saw him and he's become so much more handsome too," said Vidyachatur and Kusum and Kumari giggled behind their father. "I'm so glad Kumud got such a protective friend like you. No wonder she started crying seeing us here," Guniyal said. Kumud hugged her and cried and said, "Maa, I missed you so much. You came here so suddenly? Where are you staying? How did you get here?"

"Sis, calm down. We came here to meet you because we were all missing you. You haven't called us for the past 1 week either so we thought we might as well surprise you or you'll prepare everything and we wouldn't have been able to see the scene that just took place. We are staying right here. I know it's interrupting your *cough* time but aunty insisted and we got her by train." Kusum told her while smiling at her.

"Kusum" Kumud said sternly, "There is nothing like that. We are just friends." Asad's mouth dropped open hearing actors' signature just friends line which always meant there was something more and seeing Kumud's expression, he was starting to guess what it was. He decided to confront her today after everyone went to sleep so that he doesn't get teased by his family and her family too. He had pretty much guessed that they knew everything and that's why they had come here.

That day, the dinner table was full and since there wasn't enough space, all the children excluding Yash sat down on the sofas in the hall while the elders were at the dining table. In the living room, all of them were teasing Asad and Kumud. Asad answered all the questions normally without being affected as he was already used to it but Kumud was turning red at every opportunity because Asad's siblings didn't tease her much and Kusum and Kumari didn't leave a single chance to tease her.

AANNN were amused to see Kumud being so shy since they usually only saw her being cheerful and fighting with Asad. Due to all the talk, they were all eating very slowly when Dilshaad called out to them, "Whoever finishes last gets to wash the dishes and Ayaan, you are not going to escape because then I'll make you carry the dishes into the washroom and then clean them." Hearing this, everyone starting eating quickly and Ayaan was eating the quickest of all. As luck turned out, Asad finished last and had to do the dishes. He sulked all the way through and prayed that Kumud wasn't asleep. Everybody had gone to sleep by the time he was done and he himself was in half sleep.

He walked up to his room when he heard soft humming from Kumud's room. He walked in and saw her reading peacefully. One look at the book and he had a smirk on his face. He snatched the book from her and started reading it out aloud. Kumud felt very awkward because she was reading Mills and Boon suggested to her by Nikhat. Now she just cursed her with all her heart.

"So Kumud, you read these books too? It's really interesting I must say," saying so, Asad winked at her. Kumud went ahead to snatch the book from him but too late, she slipped and fell on Asad and both of them landed on the bed. Asad, suddenly remembering what he had to talk to Kumud about stood up and straightened his kurta.

"Kumud, I wanted to ask you something" Asad asked her. Kumud thinking he was talking about the Mills and Boon book replied, "Asad please don't taunt me. It was your sister Nikhat who gave that book to me saying it was a good book. If you want to taunt anyone, taunt her and I request, don't tell this to anyone. Please Asad," and made a puppy dog face.

Asad got distracted and said, "Nikhat? That's why she locks her room so much." But again he got back to topic when Kumud again interrupted him and said, "You didn't know? Now Nikhat will kill me. Why do I have to be the one who always gets stuck? Asad, please don't tell this to anyone, especially not Kusum and Kumari because then I will never be able to hear the end of it."

She finally managed to snatch the book from Asad's hand and then asked him, "I hope you don't mind me asking this, what the heck you are doing in my room at this time of the day, and I mean night? It's one in the night for God's sake!"

Asad replied, "Actually, the thing is, I wanted to talk to you about what happened" and again was interrupted. Kumud put a handkerchief on his mouth and tied it up and said, "That's it. You can get out now. I'm feeling really sleepy," and yawned and then continued again, "See, that's the proof," she finished and then started pushing him out. Unable to do anything to his movement, she went in front of him and caught hold of his, pulling him out. This time, surprisingly, he moved quite easily. She did not realize that Asad had given up because he was busy staring at her. She finally got him out, said good night to him and locked the door. "Phew, that was close" she said. She opened her Mills and Boon book and saw his photograph there. "This time, I escaped because I heard his footsteps, but be more careful next time Kumud," she reprimanded herself and then went off to sleep with the book under her heart-shaped pillow.

The next day, everyone except Asad took a day off. He too didn't want to go but since Rashid and Ayaan weren't there too, he went to the office sulking. The others planned to go on a picnic because the Desai family had come for the first time to Bhopal, well, everyone except Guniyal.

They went to Jhiri, which was around 18 kilometers from Bhopal for the picnic and informed Asad as well in case he could make it in time. They all set off in a tour bus because there were so many of them. Not having anything to do, they decided to play the only game any person could think off while going on a bus or a train, Antakshari. All the children decided to play while the elders were not interested and only wanted to watch them.

Since there were 6 girls and only 2 boys, the girls voted that their respective brothers to be the two captains and decided that the punishment for the losing captain would be to gift all the girls a Dairy Milk Silk because all the girls were chocolate fanatics. Dilshaad and Vidyachatur, they decided would be the referees with Dilshaad seeing that Yash's team wasn't cheating and Vidyachatur doing the same with Ayaan's team. There was a twist in this game though, they could start from any word in the middle so there was a scope for many more songs to be used. Rashid also helped them saying he would write down all the songs used and Guniyal will note down the points. This much preparation was necessary, after all it was a matter of Silk or no Silk.

Ayaan won the toss and decided to take Kumud in his team and Yash immediately chose Nikhat. Ayaan, who knew about Nuzhat's filmy skills picked her and Yash took Kumari into his team for the same reason. Kusum went into Ayaan's team and Najma was automatically in Yash's team.

"Baithe, baithe kya karein, karna hai kuch kaam. Shuru karein Antakshari leke God ka naam" said Chandrika and Gyan and pointed towards Ayaan. Ayaan immediately sang,

And then finished on N. The whole time, Ayaan was pointing to Dilshaad and his dad indicating himself as Chandu and Dilshaad as his girlfriend and that Dilshaad was Rashid's sister. Kumari sang from N in the other team.

And then stopped singing telling them to sing from ko. This sparked an argument between Ayaan and Kumari which was very entertaining for the others. They argued back and forth,

"This is against the rules. You can't sing just two lines. You have to sing at least four lines and they should not be repetitive. You can ask Vidya uncle or my mom. You won't be getting points for that song."

"Oh please Ayaan. You can sing 2 lines or sing 15 lines. It's the person's wish. Remember we could start and end anywhere?"

"Maybe you didn't hear the rules properly Kumari, but we can only begin from whichever part we wish, not finish. If you want to, ask uncle or anyone in your team. Eat almonds. Your memory will improve"

The others who were getting tired now stopped the two of them and let Kumari get away with it but warned their team that this was the last time they would let this happen.

This time, it was Kusum who sang the song.

This time, everyone was silent and speechless hearing her beautiful voice. Suddenly, they heard a very, very odd voice singing,

Everyone closed their ears and opened it as soon as Yash finished singing.

"Yash bhai, shall I say something? Please try not sing from next time. You're like the next Gyan bhai" Kumari told him and everyone burst out laughing.

"Okay. Let's get back to the game. You guys sing with e. Come on" Yash said. Everyone was thinking when Kumud sang,

When she was done, everyone clapped for Kumud and they had tears in her eyes. The elders especially since they had all lost someone dear and could connect to the song all too well. Dilshaad went forward and hugged her and said, "Kumud, you have a beautiful voice. You should try going in to the field of singing."

Ayaan said, "Yeah, you should. I recorded the song too so if you want to you can give it to a recording company."

Everyone started nodding and saying yes when Nuzhat cleared her throat and said, "I think we've given the other team enough time to think already," then, pointing towards Yash's team she said, "You have to sing with ha."

By the end of the song, everyone joined in because their ears weren't closed and song was also quite peppy. Yash said, "You guys have to sing from tu."

Ayaan's team was thinking because there was only one song that was striking to all four of them and they didn't want to sing that song because they didn't want to get teased. Nuzhat finally picked up the courage after hearing Najma and Kumari's taunts,

Everyone started going ooh and ah including Dilshaad and Rashid. Ayaan asked her, "Nuzhat, you didn't tell me you loved someone. Tell me who it is. I will break his legs and hands." "Bhaijaan, I don't love anyone. Anyway, you will be the first person to know so don't worry," Nuzhat said tapping him on his hand and calming him down.

"Okay fine, we've reached now. It's a tie between both the teams until now. We can continue on our way back. It's enough for now. Let's go" said Rashid, noticing that they had reached. He picked up one of the picnic baskets while Yash and Ayaan picked up the other two. The others carried towels, cards, a ball among other things. As soon as they reached the spot, Ayaan opened the picnic basket only to be hit by Dilshaad. She scolded him saying all of them would eat together and closed the basket.

Guniyal, Dilshaad, Chandrika, Dughba and Yash's mother laid out the towels, plate and glasses for everyone and then opened the baskets and removed all the food. They had gotten 2 ice boxes along with them, one filled with ice water and the other filled with ice creams. Everyone had sandwiches, noodles, biriyani, special food made by Guniyal and everything was done by the time they finished. The kids fought for the ice creams with the elders calming them down. When they were all done, the younger ones decided to play blindfold catch.

The first person to be blindfolded was Ayaan. They were allowed to blindfold themselves so Ayaan tied his blindfold tighty on his forehead and loosened it below his eyes so that he could see everyone's feet. He started moving when he saw Kumud's feet. Kumud who thought the game hadn't started was busy admiring the nature view. Before anyone could warn her, she was caught by Ayaan.

"Your turn to be blindfolded Kumud. This time, I will be the one tying the blindfold because I know for a fact that bhaijaan cheated" said Nikhat while glaring at Ayaan. Ayaan chuckled and Nikhat went up to tie the blindfold for Kumud. She added, "You also have to count till ten and only then move to catch us."

As soon as she was blindfolded, Asad came out from behind a tree and signaled thumbs up to Nikhat and Ayaan and told everyone else to remain quiet. He grabbed her by the hand and dragged her and Kumud immediately started shouting for help. They reached a secluded are when Asad opened her blindfold and placed a finger on her lips. He said, "You've interrupted me many times but now you'll be silent. I love you a lot and I want to know whether you love me. Do you love me? Give me an answer." Kumud lowered her eyes indicating his finger. He immediately removed it. Kumud replied, "Finally. Of course I love you Mr. Obvious. Took you long enough to realize that" and then hugged him.
