at the most it would be an average movie but certainly not a flop.. maybe they should have reduced the length of the movie or increased the pace of the screenplay.

but such a gem should deserve a BB, superhit or atleast a hit status...
don't know why garbages like dabangg 1-2, Don, OSO, welcome, singh is king, race-2, ready, ETT and other bakwaas formulaic utter trashes r getting ATBB statuses and beautiful movies like Lootera r not even getting decent numbers... sad

It would go down the history as a classic movie.. even pyaasa when it was made didn't rake moolah but look at it today.. In India entertainment industry works on literal terms only fast paced masala movies work at box office but the fact remains that most of the so called BB's ATBB's have no repeat value and are mostly one time watch movies. Lootera will get its due when the time comes 😊

Totally agree... I heard even a beautiful "Pakeezah" (my personal favorite) was lackluster at boxoffice but after Meena Kumari's death 3 weeks after its release, it turned out to be a surprise hit.
Its a mistake to watch a movie going by its bo status these days, especially of socalled bigger stars.

@ Bold - yeah its actually true.. I am glad I don't watch masala movies on bigscreen and when they r TV they bore me easily.. I totally disliked ETT and JTHJ.. irony is that both has Ms.T in them 😆

This film will be remembered in years to come as a classic.

Also, all trades declared this film safe from flopping. Though distributors might face tough times just like they did many successful films that still didn't live up the expectations. It will be average but if it picks up a bit then above average chances are there.

Critic awards for films is must. Cinematography, actress and music awards also seem to be top choices

Lootera finally been declared FLOP by boxoffice india
So sad for such a fine movie, but imo Lootera was NOT a cinema/theater movie ...although great in totality, but very very uni-dimensional & extremely slow.

https:// www.boxofficeindia.com/boxdetail.php?page=shownews&articleid=5854&nCat=

"Lootera was poor in week one as it collected 23 crore nett. The collections have come down heavily on its 8th day and even a 30 crore nett final total may not be possible. FLOP"

serves as a lesson to producers of niche films to take their budget seriously, overbudget kills, the film is much superior to all other hit films of the year but had to suffer for its budget. Inspite of it the film strengthened sonakshi's position as an actress.
