I think the only reason Akash's mother agrees for Poonam to stay is because of publicity about Gautam's family asking for dowry, I read somewhere that their is news media and Akash's mom says Akash didn't accept dowry and married Poonam because of how he is brought up. So, in those circumstances Akash's mother agrees to her staying for 6 months.

Also, poor Poonam is in shock she has not had time to recover from the trauma of the wedding. I was disappointed to see that Akash's father (played by Narinder Jha), felt the only way to have Poonam leave was to humiliate her parents, since Akash would not leave her.

I think Poonam given time will see what a good person Akash is and how he is willing to stand up to his family for her. He should have taken Poonam to his room before leaving to help her parents. I also am disappointed in Dadi who is not standing up for Akash and Poonam and is going along with what everyone else suggests. She knows Akash and knows that he must have a reason for marrying Poonam without telling everyone and also she knows that Akash loves Poonam. She should find out from Akash why he took this action.
