Motivation, it's capable of moving mountains and making the flowing water come to a stand still!

Everyone needs motivation to work. Motivation brings about an equilibrium b/w ability to work and will to work.

So what do you works better-

1. External Motivation? (egs :- Parents promosing to buy you a bike if you score well in 12th boards / Better salary for better work.)

OR

2. Internal Motivation? (eg :- trying to out do yourself / indulging yourself in a spa if you achieve goals set by yourself etc)

Mixture of both is the most perfect and positive thing in life.

External motivation may act as an occasional bumper ..but when it comes to reaching a goal.. its the inner reminder of the achievement which works wonders.. its again a personal thing! You see, some people may respond better in the 1st strategy, some may be more motivated by the latter. It all depends on which route you are able to achieve the goal, that is all it matters in the end! 😊

Indeed! It is a mixture of both. For some they need to motivated internally, while others need someone to push them.

For me personally, i need an initial push, and once it gets going, i am my best motivator.

But i firmly believe that in the long run internal motivation counts the most. Because you have to achieve the goal, the goal matters to you, its your life!

It depends upon the goals, which motivation will work.....

Some times the inner motivations feel weaker when you have to use the external motivation techniques.....

For ex: I dont need any external motivation to play cricket for hrs..... but for getting the rank in the first three in my 7th grade, my parents promised me to buy a cycle and thts the only year i got in first three 😆

So most of the time the inner motivation works, but in some situations or for particular goals, you can not bring in that inner motivation, that is when external motivation is the most useful tool 😃

Nice Topic!!

A grown up person gets motivated only by the inner zeal she /he has to achieve the goal or learn the thing.External motivation is definetly helpful only if the person really internally gets motivated.I mean to say only when the minds doors or eyes(if at all they exist) open only then a person gets motivated.External factors act as a catalyst to the process of internal motivation.

I have been reading lot of inspirational books of Swami Vivekananda,J.K.Krishnamurthy,Shivkhera and blah blah!!!Biographies and autobiographies of several people for motivation but ........Me a Alpa Bhuddhi did'nt get motivated by anything.😆

External motivation: Paintings, sculpture. designing and related arts

Internal motivation : Writing, poetry, problem-solving, analysis and related work.

There is an exception here "pain" and "desperation" can sometimes do a better job with the former....which is almost always internal... 😊

External factors has to touch innerself before creating any motivational force in someone.
I feel sense of pain\sufferings\punishments somehow are far greater motivational factors than rewards.
