I have always defended the writers and creatives of this show but today when Nikhat used'Hindustani' for 'Hindu,' I lost my cool.

Gul wants to remove misconceptions about Muslims in India. Then why have your writers make such a big mistake?

Gul, are you not a Hindustani then? Last I heard, Hindustan was a secular country with all religions represented equally.

I hope Gul takes this issue with the writers because as an Indian, it's totally unacceptable.

Ouch! I missed catching that! Great point! CVs are making far too many mistakes. Number 1 slot on Zee and the recent overall number 2 must be going to their heads! Unfortunate mistake to make.

This post was not made to start internal conflicts. It was an oversight by the PH. I am sure they didn't do it intentionally but as a responsible media house, they should have paid heed to this blunder

Peace out...Phir bhi dil hai bhartiya (I will refrain from using hindustani) :)

Oops sorry, Bheegi, I posted before I read your note. Stopping now.😊

@BOLD. Sorry to barge in, but I don't think Hindustani is a purer form of Hindi, the opposite in fact. I am copying and pasting from a previous post: https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/post/83870566
"The language of North India and also Pakistan before Independence was 'Hindustani', a mixture of Hindi and Urdu. Colloquially this is what is still spoken in large parts of India, and this is what you hear in Bollywood films.
Hindustani derives from Persian, Arabic, Sanskrit and Turkic. At the time of India's independence Hindustani was being groomed by the British to be the official language of both India and Pakistan, but India opted to use Hindi with the Devanagri script as one of its (now 23) official languages, and Pakistan Urdu with the Perso-Arabic script."

no need to say sorry yaar...new knowledge is always welcome...my bad..even i realized this morning that i wrote the opposite😆...and i only made a point about the word 'hindustani' having varied applications and implications..and as the TM and sujata rightly said...ki even if the PH means no harm using this word..popular usage and popular opinion needs to be taken into account because as viewers we do not tend to google everything and take most on the things on face value...and as PH they should remember that...😊..I am sure they did not mean to highlight any religious divide😊

Good catch sangeeta. I hadn't even realized they had written that till you pointed out. I think it's a huge gaffe but its sending out a terrible message especially when tension between religious groups are rife.

Hindus, Muslims, Christians and other religious groups that reside in India are all hindustanis! I hope Gul has her word with her pre-production team and writers on that one.
