Is Ovi made of glass? Will the truth break her?

I actually felt sorry for Ovi today. Archana does not have any faith in her ability to accept or cope with truth! She tells Purvi that her daughter is borderline hysterical. Granted the girl has a tendency to be self-destructive. However, is keeping the truth from her the way you handle the situation? Is it not better to help her learn how to cope with life's harsh realities?

Clearly her family loves Ovi, But nobody has any faith in her ability to cope with life. They want to keep her in denial for as long as possible. And then, one fine day when all hell breaks loose, they stand by and watch the fun that unfolds!

Whatever maybe Ovi's differences with Purvi, it would be silly on her part to expect Archana to dump Purvi forever. If she were half as smart as people take her for, she would have understood that right there at that hospital. So, Purvi and Pari's presence in the Deshmukh home should not come as a surpirse.

Archana was begging for her to come back. If she did take her seriously and returned, what will Archana do with Purvi and Pari? Hide them in the closet maybe?

Why don't people on this show start having greater faith in each other's mental and emotional faculties?

How many times do we watch Ovi break down and scream betrayal? As a viewer, this is getting tiresome. Tomorrow, when she knows that Purvi lives with Archana and her family, she is going to be at it all over again.

Why don't they just let the character grow and evolve instead? Why not learn that life does not necessarily work according to her plans! Her disaaster of a marriage with Arjun should have already taught her that! Maybe if Manav had not pampered and cosseted her the way he did, she would not have grown up imagining that the world owed her everything. Then, she would not have shattered at the first hint of a disappointment. She would have learnt to take disappointments on the chin and move on!

I think Ovi's track could be a really good one. How a spoilt brat evolves into a woman of confidence and maturity. How she puts her past behind her, learns from her mistakes and makes something of her life instead of running after men who don't love or respect her the way they should.

I would say the same for Purvi too. Enough of her stupid self-sacrifices. She is the polar opposite of Ovi and hell bent on ruining her own life in the name of sacrifice. Will she ever learn that life does not work that way? Will she learn that, despite her best intentions, it does not pay to micromanage other people's lives! She has been in a state of limbo for too long now. High time she decided what she wanted from life and went after it. Instead of wasting her time dithering between two men.

Archana thinks Ovi can't handle the truth, Purvi and Ovi both think Archana cannot handle the truth and poor Arjun just cannot handle the truth that stares him in the face.Everybody is shying away from the truth in the best interests of the other. Aren't Ekta and her writers tired of cooking up such storylines?

Either the show's characters take each other for imbeciles. Or the writers take us all for imbeciles!

Dear Sharad,

You are really bad for me, for all addictions are bad for the system!

But never mind. The lines I liked the best here are the following:

-Archana was begging for her to come back. If she did take her seriously and returned, what will Archana do with Purvi and Pari? Hide them in the closet maybe?

- Archana thinks Ovi can't handle the truth, Purvi and Ovi both thinks Archana cannot handle the truth and poor Arjun just cannot handle the truth that stares him in the face.

This apart, I agree with you almost in toto, the sole caveat being about the line that goes: (Purvi is) hell bent on ruining her own life in the name of sacrifice. The sacrifice is also of the other: once Arjun and now Onir. I used to joke that Purvi specialises in human sacrifice.

The bluntness with which she shooes Arjun away one month after the Arjun-Ovi marriage, when he is lamenting that he cannot stand this any longer, was almost brutal. My heart went out to him then for one last time.

to summarize i would just say "All the characters have been butchered to the core - especially Purvi and Ovi" the characters didn't shape up the way they should have been... they could be shown in a better light... Purvi was simple yet headstrong... but now she doesn't know what she wants from life... Ovi - a spoil brat who became worse rather than becoming mature with time...

Archu should be firm with Ovi , whole family should be. Tell her the truth. Purvi is with them. Let ovi deal and accept the realities of life.

🤣 @ Hiding Purvi and Pari in a closet!

Of course Ovi is made of glass, wine glass, champagne glass, shot glass! 😆
If Archu let out that Purvi was staying with her and she had forgiven her, Ovi would open a bottle right away and start drinking herself to oblivion!
She uses alcohol to escape from everything, the truth, the facts, and especially the hatred she feels for Purvi.
Actually she is virulently jealous of Purvi not only because of Arjun but also because she thinks Archu loves Purvi more than her! According to her Arjun and Archu both love only Purvi and she is the one who is ignored, unloved, neglected etc.
Ovi is so self-obsessed and self-occupied that she feels everyone around her or connected to her should only think abt her, worry abt her, devote themselves to her!
So naturally Archu had to hide Purvi and Pari's presence from Ovi...
And Purvi and Ovi both hiding the divorce papers fact from Archu...

Everyone is hiding something from another person to protect the other's feelings.

Purvi went to the utmost lengths to hide her

premarital sex

unwed pregnancy

baby swap

marrying a bigamist hurriedly without making proper enquiries

from Archana .

Was Archana made of glass ?

Nope .

She was a strong woman who had pulled her husband to court thrice , undergone seperation and been a single mom , had the temerity to miff an entire sasural and bio kids and root for the ARVI marraige that would definitely cause a family rift .

Very very strong woman .

But utmost attempts were done to keep the truth from her by Purvi .
Why ?

Not bcoz she was emotionally weak but bcoz her own deeds were wrong .

The premarital sex can be debatable but in the eyes of Archana it was wrong .

Same way

Archana is hiding from Ovi as

her sympathy to her foster daughter who swapped babies and deprived her the right to mourn her dead baby after assuring her that she 'understood' her grief will be naturally taken with a pinch of salt ...shock actually . The bio daughter will feel that such is her partiality for her foster daughter that even when she was criminally wrong , Archana continues to pamper her .

Archana is hiding for the same reasons Purvi hid things from her ...she is wrong .

Archana and whole Deshmukh family know that Ovi is emotionally unstable. She cannot accept anything concerning Purvi...thats why Archu is hiding Purvi's presence. Ovi will either:
1) drink like Devdas
2) slit her wrist again
3) Do something even more dangerous

Ovi hates Purvi and Pari both with a passion that stems from jealousy and outrage that an adopted daughter shd get love and attention from people who supposedly should belong to Ovi. Arjun and Archu shd have a stamp on them that they belong to Ovi. She knows Manav is exclusively on her side so shes not worried abt him.
Inflated ego and narcissism are well defined aspects of her character.
She suffers from NPD...

Persons diagnosed with a Narcissistic Personality Disorder are characterized by unwarranted feelings of self-importance. They have a sense of entitlement and demonstrate grandiosity in their beliefs and behavior. They have a strong need for admiration, but lack feelings of empathy for others. These qualities are usually defenses against a deep feeling of inferiority and of being unloved.

Sense of entitlement...that made her convinced that shes entitled to have Arjun...nobody

else can have him! That he belongs to her inspite of his repeated admissions that he

doesnt love her.

Strong need for admiration: Hence she chose modelling as a profession...people will look at her and admire her...thats her main objective in life. 😆

Lack of empathy for others...have never seen her ask Teju abt Sunny or care abt Soham

Dada as Teju does. She even seemed detached when Archu was shot and therafter in a

coma. Shes always too busy thinking abt herself.

Shes psychologically impaired, like "that mad daughter" of the family. Thats why all Deshmukhs and Archu treat her like a china doll...they tread on eggshells

when dealing with her...pata nahin kab bigad jaye ...😆.

God knows when she will burst out in that shrill voice of hers and start blaming everyone.

@sharadrocks: awesome post!

If Ovi is treated like a babydoll for the rest of her life she will never be able to transform into a mature woman.. Archana and co should tell her the truth and she should learn to face it instead of being suicidial her life isn't so bad that suicide is the only option.
