When Sandhya's dream of becoming an IPS officer was revelead Sooraj agreed to support her dream. He promised to her father he will never allow that dream of hers as well as her parents will be broken.

When he spoke to Bhabo he told that Sandhya has a dream to become IPS officer, when he took her to night college he told when she achieve her dream after her he will be the most happiest person.

But somewhere along the line supporting Sandhya that dream became Sooraj's. From the second most happiest person, it became the most beautiful day in his life would be the day she will become IPS. Most probably I believe he will say he wants to be known as the husband of Sandhya Sooraj Rathi IPS.

Now my question is how or why did it became Sooraj's dream. Sooraj was a simple person who had decided to get married for Bhabo. He was expecting a simple family life, but now something else has become important to him. So I just thought what is that

- At subconscious level does Sooraj feel that if he had completed his studies he would have commanded much social respect

- At subconsious level did Sooraj had some expectation from Mohit or Chavi, did he wanted them to achieve very high in life so that he can be proud of being their brother. Unfortunately both of them turned out to be not really interested in studies.

To love , to care and support your wife in your dream is one thing. But to make her dream his and asking her to give him the happiness by achieving it takes it to a different level.

So you can pour in your thoughts. How did Sandhya's dream became Sooraj's.

Excelllent post Shruthi. Agree with you 200%. Suraj as they claimed earlier was indeed a good student who, had he been given the opportunity could have reached greater heights. Call it fate call it destiny that was not to be. He may have had hopes from his siblings but they proved to be a disappointment. He accidentally gets a brilliant wife. Gets to know of her dream. Feels it is God's will that he met her parents on the day of their death and the handing over of the pen to him was God's way of handing over the responsibility on his shoulders to make Sandhya fulfill her dream. To his mind it is a kind of divine duty bestowed upon him. He also realized he could live his dream of success through her. It is a combination of these two factors which made him make Sandhya's dream his own. I also feel he will remain eternally grateful to her for encouraging him to become WTC. Till than he only did things for his family members. Nobody did anything for him. Sandhya was the first person who motivated him all the way and made him win.No power on earth can stop him now unless Sandhya betrays him to gain Bhabo's love. It is high time Sandhya realises on whose side she has to be in and where her loyalties should lie. She cannot make Bhabo treat her like daughter even if she bends backwards. Why even try... Why not go into the arms of your supportive husband and ensure victory in the matka challenge.

Nice post, Shruthiravi! Sometimes, I think, it's good that we are left to assume what we wish, about what characters feel, and other times I find it very annoying that is not clear what they mean or feel!

Suraj never had a dream of his own and, I think, it is normal for people, without a dream, to nurture the dreams of the ones they love, instead.

It may be that Suraj saw himself in Mohit and by supporting him in his education he wanted to get some relief for the fact that he couldn't continue his studies. However, Suraj never made or said anything to make us understand that he regrets interrupting his studies. I don't think he regrets it as he did it for his Bhabo, whom he loves very much! It is only our assumption that he might, perhaps, have regret, because of what Bhabasa said: that he was a very good student! The fact that Suraj was a good student in school and then he became the best halwai shows, however, that he is aspiring for something, he is motivated, he has a goal when he wants (though is not his dream)!

How Sandhya's dream became Suraj's dream?

Suraj knows how much Sandhya burns for her dream. The more Sandhya rejects her dream, the more Suraj wants her to achieve it! Her stubbornness made him even more determined/ambitious in making her dream come true!

Finally, Suraj wants Sandhya to be respected (which she is not in RP), so, by becoming IPS, Suraj thinks she will get the respect she deserves, but, it's denied to her inside RP.

Thanks Umaji for your wonderful reply. I dont think Sandhya will betray him just like that. No she cares for him. But for her the confusion will continue whose side she should be in. I want to see how the CVs will break her confusion.They have taken the first right step.

@alexxa that is unique about DABH. Show raises more questions than it answers. For many things there are no right or wrong answers. But it tries to give a perspective to various things.

I dont think any other show aired in any other channel at this point of time makes us think so much.

I have felt DABH holds a mirror to us. Our own prejudices, our own beliefs, our own values. Most of DABH characters are human which you can relate to ( I mean leave aside SR by SURYA). I am talking here about the character aspect and the interconnect that a joint family faces.
