OK...I agree people can wear what they want and your clothes do not reflect your tahezeeb, but seriously, no self-respecting ADULT WOMAN even in the US or UK wears a skirt that short as Zoya did on QH! And when they do, people here do not approve of it. Shorts or a skort are a different matter, but not a skirt that seriously is the length of handkerchief. I have never seen any of my non-Muslim friends wear a skirt THAT short in public. If you showed up at work or school, you would receive a warning at work or be sent home from school. It is actually considered very "hoochie-mamaish" and trashy here - every talk show that does make-overs in the US has fashion experts not recommending this length of a skirt as appropriate or flattering. Women who do dress like this are your Black and Hispanic women from the ghetto - meaning lower class areas. I feel there is HUGE misconception of what is considered acceptable here in the in the west regarding dress. Rule of thumb, if you cannot bend over in the skirt without your butt being exposed, don't wear it.

Unless she plans on wearing the skirt or that length of skirt to play tennis or ice-skate, that is not what people wear in public and if a female member in my family dressed that way, I'd say something, so Asad getting worked up actually gets support even from women in the west.

Having worked and lived in the "ghetto areas of town" my comment is not meant to be racist but a viewpoint on my observations and my interactions with the black and hispanic members of the community. Some might consider this racist but it is a reflection of my observations. It might stereotypical but in no-way was intended to be racist. I have a number of Black and Hispanic friends who would support this claim as they themselves have had to educate me on what is sometimes considered as acceptable to standards of dress for certain communities. Yes, white women and other people do dress this way, and they too are often not women who are again considered those of a middle or higher social class. How come we do not see this worn by the President's wife or the future Queen's of England even casually? No..as this length of skirt is not considered appropriate in public.
NEW UPDATE 6-3
I took Zoya's picture to work and asked several office staff of different ages and ethnic groups. The skirts was viewed as too short and inapprorpiate to wear during the day even for a woman in her early 20s. Some said "O my God" to the length, while others were so mortified they were like "hell no." Others said it was indeed very hoochie mamaish as I mentioned. And basically all agreed that the women who chose to dress this way during the day were not exactly exhibiting much self-respect. The only place the skirt should be worn was in a club.

I also wish to add, that some people might not be happy with the term "self-respecting adult woman" and I emphasis the term adult woman as Surbhi is an adult and the skirt is not considered appropriate on an adult working woman. Zoya is not a young teenager but a mature woman. If people are offended with the term, my apologizes but the word is used to emphasize that this type of dress on a woman will convey to others a lack of disrespect.
Please note: Because of Vijay's new rule, I cannot post at all. This was a lucky by chance moment for me.

Black or Hispanic women from the ghetto? Excuse me but I have seen rich white girls wearing skirts as short as the one Zoya is wearing. Im not from the US or the UK but to see them all you have to do is just catch a glimpse of the crap that MTV shows. And these are teenage girls and sometimes adult women too. So dont limit it to just women of the ghetto PLEASE!

I mean seriously we all know what people call girls who wear like that. I live in America and some American girls themselves look down to girl who wears a kind of skirt that Zoya was wearing and I have heard it with my own ears.

some people are saying people have the choice to decide what to wear and it's their freedom ok but
freedom doesn't mean to be degraded from modesty .
Also already people are misjudging Muslim people today
some calling them terrorists and showing them uncaring about their religion and culture and wanting to be westernized and all
which is not true so for god's sake stop ruining the reputation of Muslims and try to show the right religion of Islam and the true Muslims.
one thing I also see that it's always the Muslims who are portrayed wrong everywhere
not the Christians Jews, Sikhs, Hindus, and etc.
and when we get mad they ask us why are we mad
I mean are you serious???

Agree with you Laila completely, haven't seen one myself any muslim girl in US in such short skirt, specially girl of that age..
I believe this will be a challenge like scene, where Najma will see it and was shocked out of life. Najma will say don't wear in front of Bhai, if sees you in it, he will freak out or something. And after he has humiliated recently, she will take it as challenge😛.
I don't see Zoya randomly wearing it. Let the segment air, before we all discuss in details..

So now we have people being openly racist on this forum.👍🏼

Coming to the skirt issue. Personally don't think it's needed in the show. Plus don't think it suited Surbhi at all, but it looks like the show is running out of ideas, and now just dragging itself along.
