She has the freedom to wear a thong and run around topless but that still does not make it appropriate.
Agreed however the appropriate part is where the disagreement is! in her room - np, on the road there are laws against it. Is it culturally acceptable to run around in her room I think so?
How about a bra and a hot pants with super short shorts where the shorts could ride up with wear?
And to temple is the mini skirt Zoya wears appropriate? Just curious.
Does it makes sense for her to do so - no not appropriate, Will people gawk at her - absolutely, they might even point to her and make a face. Will someone stop her from entering the temple - I don't think so! If they do they will be someone who is ultra conservative!
Would you wear that skirt to your temple - that was the question.
I have said this multiple times, if Zoya was wearing that as a skirt to go play tennis, iceskate etc I have no problem in the length - perfectly appropriate. If I had directed this scene bearing in mind Zoya is Muslim but wanted to create a shock value, I would have had her wearing a tennis skirt, it would have worked far better.
OK glad to know that I thought perhaps you felt she should never wear such a skirt in public, considering you do not think it is appropriate culturally!
I have no problem skirts and have worn a mini skirt myself but with tights and at least longer than Zoya so that when I bent over my arse was not on display. My mother even wore them in the 60s/70s but she at lest had a her butt covered when she bent over. And when they desinged them back then, they had a flare so that you could walk and also bend over appropriately. So this is NOT about. I have issue with length and the style as tracky and trashy.
Regarding self-respect we're talking about clothing in relation to self-respect for ones self.
Usually self respect means respect for oneself...
A woman wearing a burka doesn't have more self-respect either because I find the whole costume nonsense. Mute point for me.
No opinion on the Burka as long as I dont have to wear it, I brought up that example of someone being culturally conservative in one situation and the same person being conservatively inappropriate in another situation and I am sure the self respect part had not changed in either situation!
Huh?😕
Also, when it comes to assuming the person is confident for pulling something off, think again, women who take of their shirt and flash their breasts on beaches think they are confident and liberal too - and they have the right - does it make it appropriate?
Mini skirt versus flashing - no not an appropriate example. Most beaches don't allow you to do it, no not appropriate but its their choice not mine!
Perfectly good example - you are using confidence to justify that an item is appropriate. So here I am asking you if confidence and happiness is the key or does the costume or lack thereof really make it acceptable and appropriate?
If yes, would you want your daughter to do it if some people said it was acceptable and the majority of people in her college were doing it? Mmm?
Yes I would let my daughter wear a minI skirt if she wants to, but I think I will raise her such that she does not believe she needs to flash or become drunk to show she is cool!
So you are OK if your daughter wars a mini skirt the length of Zoya's out in public? At least you are open and honest.
And btw, the writer and director of the scene have seen my post :😉 And we have discussed this matter.
More power to you! if they continue to read the whole post they will see other opinions as well😉
I think they formed their opinion already when they wrote the scene.
