PART 47

Maan sighed as he moved toward geet's room, "geet you can't come with me. I am going alone and that's final.", he said with as much determination he had. She had already started her packing when he reached her room.

"Give me one valid reason and I won't go" she countered him back, keeping her hand on her hip. "The village in which my grandma lives is one of the most backward areas in India, the one which hadn't even got its place in the nation's Map. You won't find any electricity, telephone, net or any other facility there, so life won't be easy there and thus you aren't coming" he replied with confidence, his mind jumping thinking he had won the argument.

"Well I already knew all that, tell me something new" geet said, wiping off that smug look from his face.

"Geet try to understand, that village isn't perfect for you and I don't want you to live their style of living" he sighed moving toward her trying to cup her face with in his palms.

"maan if not for me, think about maa even, she had already said so many times that she want to see me, won't she ask you why you have come all alone ha leaving me here" she said placing her palms over his which held her cheek.

"I had already told her that you have gone to live with your relatives. She was disappointed at first, but then she agreed, so don't give me that reason.

Geet looked at him pouting, as she pushed off his hands from her face and sat down on the bed cribbing, "you are bad, very very bad. How can you just decide everything??? Ha boliye??? Firstly you planned to go all alone without telling me that too during my vacations, which I was looking forward to spend with you. Upar se you aren't taking me with you too and lied to maa even. I so much wanted to even see the village where your roots belong, as I hadn't ever seen mine but nhi you even destroyed my that plan too. Jao I don't want to talk to you, chale jao mujhe yha akele chod ke, mai bhi reh lungi apke bina akele" she said and laid back on the bed, turning her back toward him.

He stood on his place rooted, his mind just revolving around her words when she said she was looking forward to spend her vacations with him. He looked at her lovingly as she cribbed about his ignorance for her, somewhere still trying to make his heart believe, that it's his mishty talking, the girl he dreamt about.

He went and sat in front of her and said, "geet you can stay at sam's place and then you can spend the vacation with meera and your other friends. I am going to village for 2-3 weeks and by the time we will be back your school would start, so you won't get any vacations to enjoy!!!" he knew she will refuse now, her friends are quite important for her.

"so what, I stay with them for most of the time. Half of them live in hostel and we enjo whenever we get time. I just have these few weeks with you, uske baad phir whi hostel. I don't mind skipping my vacations with them to be able to be around you and my family"

He was astounded with her reply. He could guess she was attracted to him, well its quite common in her young age, but here she wasn't just ready for him, but for his family too. But the problem here is that, the freedom and facilities she has here, she won't get even 10% of it in his old-mentality family and he doesn't want her to be restricted and control her life.

He cupped her cheek and said, "ok I will take you, but then before that I am warning you that there you won't be living as a 17 yr old Geet Handa, but a 22 yr old Geet maan singh khurana. Maa and dadima, even whole village will treat you as my wife there and would expect you to behave like one, if you can handle those initial days in the house again, then you can come with me otherwise not"

Geet looked at him with forlorn look as she realized she was married with him, though not for them but still for the society, and then those responsibilities which would be expected from her. Her mind asked her to refuse the offer but then her heart was blooming with the new found love and wanted to be with the person who tries to make her each moment joyful, how can she refuse to face all those for having few moments with him, "ok, I will try my best to not disappoint them" she said hugging him as her mind feared whether she will be able to impress them like a daughter in law.

Next day, geet sat in class waiting for the time to pass so that she could go home and prepare for the trip. She thought to ask suhana about the things she should take care of, but then couldn't talk yesterday due to network disturbance, and a lot need to be done. But she do remember her promise to meera who was giving her glares after every few minutes, reminding her to study or else she is gone. Well she will study too warna at the end she will be at the loss, she realized with the small episode yesterday.

Finally the bell rang declaring the end of the day and so the beginning of the vacations too, along with the scheduled examinations that would be organized after a week of opening of school. Friends bid adieu as all those from different cities, started for their hometown and so did geet and her group.

Maan sat in a caf as he sipped his black coffee. Sameera placed her hand on his left one as she tried to give him the much needed strength. "are you sure about your decision, you know we are with you and we can do something about it. Let me talk once with them please" "yes sam I am more than confident about it. I think its time that I think clearly about my life and future seriously. It had been around a year since I am controlling myself, but each thing has a limit and I have reached mine."

He pressed her hand giving her the strength to accept the reality. "but what have you decided then" "nothing much, firstly I need a break, need to get mind straight. And then will decide something. I have few things In my mind, maybe just some a little more effort and I will get something set up"

"have you told geet and aunty about all these things" asked sameera deep in thought. "not now. I want everything to be final then I will tell them, otherwise they will get worried. I don't want them to know about all this as of now, shayad after everything is set, and then I will tell them"

"waise you said ki geet is your mama's friend's daughter na and she had come with you to get away from the city where her family died. But then after her 12^th kya socha hai tumne, you can't bear her burden whole your life right???"

"sameera, I had already cleared I don't want to discuss about all that. She is my responsibility and I will do everything in my control for her" he said with coldness in his voice, surely not liking that question form his friend at least, "I know Mr. Maan will do whatever you can for her happiness, but after all that happened in last few months, do you think you will be able to support her as of now"

"sameera she isn't a burden on me, and I am that much well off even now to atleast help her in living a subtle life and I don't want to discuss about all that now, I need some break from all these worries that's why I am going to Punjab for few weeks and geet is going with me too"

Sameera nodded as she still tried to think of plans to help maan, but decided to think of it when he won't be here and she could take help of adi too. both hugged each other as they bid bye.

It was evening when geet called suhana and told her about their trip to village. "I thought maan will send you here when he will go to their village, but I never knew you were going with him too. mujhe laga you will be dying to see your pregnant dii and your jij, not fare bacha" suhana pouted as geet told her village. From back geet could hear ishaan's voice to ignore suhana's comment as she had gone mad after her pregnancy.

"ha ha you too take her side, no one loves me in this world" suhana pouted making ishaan laugh out loud. It had been a regular cribbing from suhana, after some old aunty filled her ears saying husbands get license to look for other girls after wives get pregnant.

"dii you can crib later about jij, firstly tell me what should I do and not do there, maan said I have to be like a typical daughter in law there" said geet nervously as she paced in the room, trying to pack each and every important thing.

"umm take some gifts for your saas and dadisaas to impress them, though it's another thing that Saas is one such category of living things that never get satiated from your efforts." Taunted suhana looking at ishaan whose laugh stopped hearing his wife taunt about his mother. Though it wsant a lie, still she is his mother.

"dii are you trying to scare me" asked geet as she dropped everything in her hand hearing suhana's warning. "no baby, how can I do that, yeh to jivan ka apar sach hai. How much good you try to be, they always find faults, though you can still hope ki one day they will get happy from atleast something done by you. And ha remember never refuse them, otherwise you are gone, as no one will take your side then…. Not even your husband" suhana showed her tongue to ishaan who now knew that ball is in her court.

Geet on the other side gulped her saliva as she tried to imagine everyone taunting her about her faults and maan taking their side too. "dii I don't want to know more, that's all enough for this lifetime" geet said deducting the call as she heard suhana start again her saas puran.

Maan came in her room to check if everything is packed or not. She saw him and taking his hand started dragging him to the door, "maan chaliye jaldi mujhe shopping karna hai and as always you will be helping me" "but geet we will get late, aisa kya purchase karna hai tumhe" he asked as he halted her movements.

"I need to purchase gifts for everyone there, and I don't know their choice so whatever you like tell me and we will purchase that." "geet I already had taken few things form Mumbai for them, you don't need to worry about all that, ok" he said wiping off the sweat layer that formed on her forehead. "Are you sure they will like all that, pakka na" "ha baba, chalo get ready, it will take atleast two hours to reach station in the heavy evening traffic of Mumbai"

At night they boarded the train to Punjab, where they will rest for 2-3 hrs and then will take a taxi to take them to their village.
