All films require acting. Period. As long as you are standing in front of the camera and have to inhabit a character, it's acting. Whether you are acting well or not is another reason.
So yes, a comedy like Golmal takes acting just as an action/thriller like Dhoom takes acting.
It's a sad reality that the awards and even the audiences seem to only appreciate highly dramatic, tear-jerking portrayal of autistics or blind people or prostitutes as great acting. Any other genre is not acting for them.
