Husna and K - I actually agree with both of you. The episode was overwhelming, especially the end when Sarah dies and you hear all the awful stuff Crowley says to the boys. I did shed a tear when Sarah died and Sam practically collapsed on the floor. She's one of the very few side characters that made me like them a lot even though they only appeared for an episode.
Exactly my feelings. You are bound to feel the pangs when Sam suddenly collapses on the floor. :(
Here's my review:
Duuude! (you know in what style LOL) Your reviews deserve a topic of their own. But since you posted here which by the way makes feel honored, I'd reply for one, they deserve a reply, two, its too tempting not to. 😳
I had already guessed some twists from the promo (as I had mentioned in the promo thread, a big theme of the episode was partly my idea too). Two of my hunches do seem to be coming true.. Curing a demon means remind it of the human soul it once was... and that the third trial is going to be Crowley. I actually would've been disappointed if anyone other than Crowley was the demon to be cured.. So the writers got that right.
You know, I am actually in two minds about that. Nothing else makes better sense than Crowley, king of hell getting cured but on the other hand, after all what's he's done, what all he's been, why should he get a free pass? Why should his humanity be restored when he doesn't deserve to live in the first place? Sadistic of me, but I'd better like him dead. 😳
The episode did surprise me a few times as well... Metatron and Cas teaming up to close heaven.. very interesting idea. Cas is closing heaven.. that's good because technically he did create a lot of problems up there, but I was also hoping that it would be Dean.
I don't trust Metatron, somehow all this seems to be fishy. Did you notice a scene in the promo where Metatron and Naomi in the heaven headquarters? I couldn't help but think that couldn't this be of a way executing whatever Noami has planned. Control Castiel through Metatron, may be. After all, how could she lie low, do nothing admist so much of action? Plus, I can't digest the fact (if it is one) that all of a sudden, its Castiel who gets to do the trails. Nothing against him, but Dean clearly makes a better fit, for me at least. Winchesters are Lucifer and Micheal's vessels for some reason. And could Dean be given a raw deal, just like that? I know Cass did cause a lot of trouble up there, but just think, he was the one trying to 'protect' the angel tablet from everyone and now he's all set to shut down heaven (temporarily or permanently) without even giving a proper thought? Wouldn't it shutting down mean/do him anything? I don't know...🤔 Somebody ask Cass not to fix things please, because when tries to, he messes up.
Anyway, did anyone else feel that the writers took the easy way out by portraying the waitress as somewhat evil? Cas really didn't have to make the hard choice... he saved Metatron from her so even we thought it was okay killing her. Had she really been innocent, we would have had moral issues too.
Oh yes, that was an easy way out in order to prevent Cass being portrayed in bad light. Besides, I didn't exactly get how was she an abomination. Abomination, as in like Anna? Fallen angel concept?
It's always so interesting for me to see all the different layers there are to Dean's character.
Dean: How you feeling?
Sam: Honestly...uhh... my whole body hurts, I feel nauseous and like I'm starving at the same time and everything smells like rotting meat.
Dean: I've had that hangover. Yager, man! *phew*
Just the way he looks at Sammy clearly shows how awfully he is worried about him but he covers it up with his infamous jokes. That's just his style. And we love the guy for that and more.
I also thought it was so frickin' cute the way Dean just ignored Cas when he said good morning. It was like they were 3rd graders. You talked to the person I don't like so I'm gonna give you the silent treatment. 😆 On a serious note, Dean is justified with his anger. It's happened before with the souls, then with the leviathans and now again. He has to learn to trust the Winchesters. In that world, there's really no one else more trustworthy.
Cas: Dean, I thought I was doing the right thing.
Sam: Yeah, you always do.
And it was rather cute the way Sam interrupts that conversation 😳
Okay, so only Dean can swear in front of a Father and get away with it 😆 That's also one of the things I love about him, he doesn't change himself for anyone/anything.
Dean: Father, over the last couple of months, I've seen him do crap that I didn't even think was possible. Now he's miserable and he's hurting, but you know what, there's not a doubt in my mind that he's gonna cross that finish line. Not one.
Dean's unwavering faith in Sam was endearing. This is what we love about them. How they always have each other's back.
I agree to every word you said about Dean and Sam here. Every. <3
Cas being so emotional over pie was downright hilarious. He really does want to make it up to Dean, which Dean had seen that, he would probably forgive Cas on the spot 😆
Oh yes. 😆
By the way, have to say that the severed hand crawling out of the box was the grossest ting ever. In spite of being very low budget, the VFX effects were pretty good.
Geez. That was outright creepy. 😳
As I mentioned above, the whole thing about Cas shutting heaven is pretty interesting. We know that at least Dean will be happy about that. However, the way Metatron was talking about closing hell and heaven, it seemed like more of a temporary thing... not 'forever' as we were told earlier. So it's not forever? You can close heaven/hell while the demons or angels are behaving badly by doing the trials but then they can be reopened? I'm confused... lately, there have been some loopholes.. let's hope the writers clarify them next week in the finale.
*Copy-paste what I said earlier on* 😆
"That's what you do...you try!" That pretty much sums up the Winchesters. No matter what happens, no matter if the odds are totally against them, they try. They try to do what they believe is right. Cause that's what they do.
Sam: I know it's insane.. but insane is what we do. (It's a variation of "we specialize in crazy" and I, for one, loved this version better but insane works too).
When Sarah mentioned how her daughter will be 1 in a month, did anyone notice Sam's face? My heart went out to him.. he wants a family so much, you could clearly see it on his face. Sitting in front of him was another reminder of what could have been... It's really heart wrenching how much the boys have sacrificed for others. How much they have given up.(Again, have to say that Jared Padalecki is an outstanding actor. I just don't get the people who say he doesn't act well. They clearly don't have eyes... or at least the ones that work).
It pained, every bit of it/sigh. :( I see tremendous improvement in Jared now, not that he wasn't amazing before but he's beginning to get better and better. :)
Dean: Son of a bitch.
Crowley: Son of a witch, actually. 😆
Okay, so after this episode especially, I really do hate Crowley. But with hysterical lines like that, the guy makes it harder for me to really truly hate him. He has crossed the last possible line though. Now he has to be stopped. There couldn't be anything more devastating for the boys than seeing the people they saved die in front of them. Crowley found their sensitive spot. Knowing that these people are alive and happy, knowing that they saved so many families is what keeps them going. That's what keeps their sacrifice worth it. Crowley needs to die. Now.
Oh yeah. 'Dieee Crowley Dieee'.
So this is THE SACRIFICE. One thing I was wrong about... it's not Sam whose life is in danger... it's all the people they saved. Are they willing to make this sacrifice to close hell?
Though from the promo it seems like they are on the right track... Sam feel likes they could actually win after a long time. So I'm gonna be ready with a box of tissues for the finale. It's going to be intense, but I'm sure there's find one other sacrifice that's going to definitely make us cry. The finale is titled Sacrifice, they've got to live up to it, right? :( I guess we'll find out in 6 days.
I think they might have figured out a way to trick Crowley or else I don't see how these two would be okay sacrificing the lives of everyone they saved to get the trials done. Yes, we shall see in no time now.

P.S. Thanks, Husna, for calling my reviews brilliant but all I do is just put a bunch of thoughts together and post them here 😳 << That's what is called 'brilliance', my dear. :)
P.P.S. There are probably a few typos but I'm too tired (and lazy) to go back and edit 😳
