Bollywood condemns Sarabjit Singh's death
Salman Khan and Javed Akhtar were among the first to express their grief on Twitter
"Petty-minded" politics took away the life of Sarabjit Singh, Bollywood filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar and veteran writer Javed Akhtar said, as Hindi film celebrities reacted strongly to the death of the Indian death row prisoner in Pakistan.

Here's what the celebrities posted on Twitter on his death:

Salman Khan: Freedom at last. Hope they give him to his family. We all tried, guess not hard enough. May god give his family strength and his soul rest in peace.

Madhur Bhandarkar: Pakistan should have sent his body earlier to India. Feel sad for Sarabjit Singh's family. For them, the long hopeful wait has come to a sad end. His death will always be a reminder of petty minded politics.

Javed Akhtar: Some day I may forget Kargil, but will never forget Sarabjit's murder. It is an act of extreme meanness by a very petty minded establishment.

Mahesh Bhatt: Sarabjit Singh's death has pushed the Indo-Pak relationship to the brink. The Pakistan civil society needs to push their government to act humanly.

Kunal Kohli: Dear Sarabjit's family. Like the families of Nirbhaya, the beheaded solider, the 5-year-old old raped girl. Your son too will not get justice.

Farhan Akhtar: With Sarabjit's death, Pakistan has painted itself a heartless villain, even in the most forgiving Indian's eye. Unforgettable insensitivity. RIP.

Sophie Choudry: RIP Sarabjit Singh. Strength, prayers and condolences to the family. Hate may have killed him, but red tape let him die.

Sonam Kapoor: I feel betrayed as an Indian.

Aadesh Shrivastava: Sarabjit ki mout ka zimmeydaar Pakistan ke saath saath hamari sarkaar bhi zimmedaar hai..bahut hi dukh ki aur sharm ki baat hai. (Our government is equally responsible just like Pakistan's government for Sarabjit's death. It is a matter of grief of shame.)

Sarabjit Singh died in a Lahore hospital Thursday, a week after being severly beaten up by two fellow inmates in jail. He had been sentenced to death for bomb blasts in Lahore and Multan that left 14 people dead.

Boohoo...cry me a river. I never saw anyone in Pakistan mourning Ajmal Kasab's death. These imbeciles should stick to acting and keep out of politics. 🥱
The man was convicted of killing 14 people, what the hell should have Pakistan done? give him a medal of honor?

If it was a proper fansi, it would be different, but he was attacked n beaten brutally, which was not right. Does Kasab got the same kind of beating or any injustice??

Proper judgment and court trail like India gave to Kasab. Not killed by prison inmates .

How the hell is that insensitive?? He was convicted for God's sake. How would you have felt if people in Pakistan were mourning Ajmal Kasab??
And why the hell are people blaming Pakistan in all this. What should they have they done? give him extra security or a VIP jail?? The man was not even hanged for Pete's sake.
Do you honestly think its justified to act as if your convict is innocent while anyone convicted from Pakistan is a terrorist. Seriously, this is not a re-run of VeerZara, this is real life.

so what do u mean, any prisoner in any country should be beaten up to death. how the hell is the country not responsible. especially when they are keeping the guy from another country. The guy already reported many times that earlier he was beaten 2-3 times before. and this time they made it.

as for ur second thing, the family of sarabjit kept claiming that he was innocent and had been trapped. even the pak gov said that they will think abt his innocence. go and check the web articles. then how he was supposed to be killed like this...really this does not make any sense

Who is denying about Sarabjit's conviction?? You keep taking Kasab's example, he was not beaten t o death like this by inmates of jail...

Those 6 inmates are responsible for his death, as that was not their job to punish him. If a proper "Hang Till Death" kind of act was carried out, then it would have been something else.

Now don't this a issue as we are blaiming pakistan or something like that, it is about injustice done a prisoner.
