The Indian Govt: is introducing a new law. IRBM (Irretrievable breakdown of marriage bill) According to the law if a woman files for divorce, she gets divorce immediately and can claim 50% of husband's assets which include even whatever he is to inherit from the ancestors. But if a man files for divorce, woman can object claiming economic hardship. She can not only claim 50% of the assets from the husband but also claim maintenance also from the husband. Thus for a woman she can any moment file for divorce and walk away with 50% of the hard earned property of the husband. And for an unscrupulous woman she can seduce four men, entice them into marriage and get divorce in a few days and walk away with 50% of his property. Isn't such a woman lucky? How is the husband helped by the law?

What is really happening is Indian Govt: is legalizing prostitution. What kind of justice are men getting because of this law?

Funny how much the Indian government thinks about all this and yet they can't pass a simple law to legalize marital rape!

Wow.. this law makes me almost want to go back to India, marry a hundred men and divorce them all and earn money that way 😛

The husband isn't helped by the law .. sorry.. but he can use some of that money and hire a damn good lawyer/bribe the court! Either spend it on your wife .. or in the court.. his choice! Damn .. his bad luck, he can't keep it for himself.

Seriously, people who go after their spouse's money, especially in India, have way too much time on their hands. They need to find a job and earn it themselves. Or I guess it makes sense if you have been tortured at their hands, but will you be happy with their money.. or happier if you move on and start a life on your own! Revenge is never the solution .. its a waste of time.

Ok, I am back.. I know you meant educated and working women in your post.. which is why I wrote that reply.

But just thought of women who have no money, no job .. ones living below poverty line.. and others who don't have their family support (ones who left their families for the sake of their husband) .. and so on, who really need that money for surviving the rest of their lives.. and imagine if they have kids too. Not sure what conditions are listed in this law that you said ..

It sounds a lot like the situation with alimony in the US, except I am pretty sure its still hard in India, because things like this take forever! If you are an educated woman with a good paying job, its really not worth it .. But like we discussed in your previous post, this is not applicable to all Indian women, just as not all Indian men torture their wives .. so I guess India is still safe.

And I'm pretty sure this is false.

It's a woman's world. 😆

This law should address the dowry system in India.

ps. The title should be "God save Men!!!"

The govt is going overboard or perhaps its an attempt towards retribution for all the past wrongs 😆The bill seems to have been hastily put up and there are bound to be many issues with it. In its current form men seem to be caught between the deep sea and the devil . If they get married and annoy their wife they risk losing half or more of their property and earnings. If they go for a live in relationship and annoy their partner they risk being charged with rape on the premise of a false promise of marriage . A grim situation that!

I don't get how this is legalising prostitution according to you - but yeah, the law does seem unfair.

I think the quick divorce thing is good, but walking away with 50% of the husband's property is kinda ridiculous. I am sure there must be a clause to this

I feel this special safeguard in case of women is necessary since in India its much more difficult for a divorced woman to marry well again when compared to her male counterpart.
As for the law itself, its laudable since it was ridiculously difficult to get divorced in India otherwise which again is unjust and unreasonable.

This kinda sounds spurious..😲.

If its true, the Indians are at it again! Giving special status to one section of their citizenry! We all know how the caste/community based reservation, religion based laws and such have been misused and some people have benefitted unfairly. Divide the population every which way one can!

I suppose "history" is not a lesson Indians take seriously!

Wow, this is a dangerous law to be passed. As it is there are so many murders happening because of dowry. Now, the husbands can get rid of wives if they hire someone for a fraction of that amount. Or, women can start divorcing their husbands just for money. This is what happens when every Tom, Dick, and Harry, secure a seat in assembly.. 🤢 🤢
