Bombay Talkies suffers from plagiarism charges

It seems like all is not going so well for the Indian anthology film which is supposed to mark the centenary year of Indian cinema. Apparently, Bombay Talkies is suffering from Plagiarism charges for two of its stories.

Anurag Kashyap is one among the four directors in the movie and is working on a story surrounding Amitabh Bachchan. According to him, this was one of the first scripts he ever wrote. It is therefore surprising that writer Nishant G. Ranjan claims this is the very script that he sent to Anurag in 2011. He mentioned that as he did not hear back from Anurag during that time, he forgot about it. On realizing that it is his story, Nishant has now taken up the issue with the Film Writer's Association (FWA).

One of the other directors of Bombay Talkies, Zoya Akhtar, also finds herself in a muddle. Apparently, director Sudipto Chattopadhyay has accused Zoya of lifting the story of his film 'Pankh' for her segment of Bombay Talkies.

Well, it is indeed surprising that two acclaimed directors Anurag & Zoya are caught in such a muddle, that too for a film such as Bombay Talkies. Well, we got to wait and watch how things further unfold here..
