Ab bechari, she was told to put vegetables and given the names. As none of the team must have seen avial (forget about tasting it), she cut it as people do for all dishes.(think avial is the only indian dish where vegetables are cut into same shape/size strips)

And I am sure, the chef will taste these avials and go into raptures (Ise kehte hain dish.. WAH WAH) and if you had been the taster, you would have said Ise kehte hain dish?🤢 🤣

ROFLI am sure SK will say that to Navneet's team for aditi's avial... may be she was able to make it delicious, but the shapes were defn. not of thin long strips... still Kunal praised her... aaj SK bhi praise karega...😆

LOL.. Agree there is more than meets the eye. I am sure they get more time to think about the menu, etc before being shown running to the parlour as well.

In the case of the latest menu, I was surprised that any of them even knew avial. Though a traditional south Indian dish, it is not one you will find in hotels but is MUST at marriages.

I think the chefs give them ideas otherwise to an average north indian, south indian cuisine is limited to idli vada dosa and sambar . Saying words like thoran was silly as to any outsider, it is just sabzi

LOL, it is not true. I am not from South but am absolutely in love with the south Indian dishes. Whenever my family goes out for SI food, we have our favorites. My husband loves to eat Pongal Avial, Beesi beele bhath, and of course the cabbage with coconut, the rasam and many other dishes that of course I don't know the names of right now. But I do agree that not all the Punjabis living in the suburbs of Amritsar area would know about these dishes.

I think its edited. Obviously they get more than 15 minutes to prepare. But trust me, two hours with four people seems a decent ( as its a competition) time to complete a meal. Again, they probably were making food to replenish as the customers arrived, as no one can predict the exact amount needed.

Its weird that in most team challenges she is missing. Maybe she wants it that way or she isnt interesting enough after Doyal, Navneet, Happy and Yasmin. 😆 Honestly, Doyal with her screaming, unpleasant hygeine and nautanki takes up half my screen and time. UGH!!!!

Coming to the point of not knowing cuisines, maybe these chefs do know- maybe they learnt it to build a portfolio before coming to MasterChef. Or spent time learning it after getting accepted to be on MasterChef. Or they get some sort of a training- a crash course of sorts to help them out. Cuz obviously the show is edited to leave out information and to get a crisp narrative, but I doubt they'll bring in contestants wihtout gving them equpiment to make a dish- good or bad. Then by default they loose and thats not good for their image.

You raised very valid points Devica.

About knowledge about different cuisines, my assumption is if you are so inclined towards food and cooking, you observe, experience and learn from different sources. So I guess they know about different cuisines.

I was surprised at the time limit, 2 hrs to make so much food, that too from scratch. Hard to believe.

BTW, I would not mind if Ripu is made winner. He is a marketable personality, n he can host next season too.

I don't think that the actual cooking and stuff is scripted in this show or the eliminations, maybe the winner but I don't think making the food part is scripted as this ppl are not actors and u can actually see pressure on their faces when they are doing their tasks

Buttt they do try to add so much drama in this show and always show misleading precaps which is so annoying

Idk why but especially from this year SP has seriously gone from annoying to ridiculous. Like every single of their reality shows they ruin by adding total unnecessary drama as they think the indian trp aunties will like to see that

I mean they have to understand that even young modern audience watches this show and they are not interested in all that cheap drama they try to show

Just look at that pathetic episode where all the annoying sp bahus came and were cooking with the contestants, I mean that was unbearable to watch

Even if u look at other "reality" shows of them like nach baliye, which is definitely scripted and way too dramatized

And of course the most annoying thing about master chef this year is that they show so less of vikas khanna on screen
