In the case of the latest menu, I was surprised that any of them even knew avial. Though a traditional south Indian dish, it is not one you will find in hotels but is MUST at marriages.

I think the chefs give them ideas otherwise to an average north indian, south indian cuisine is limited to idli vada dosa and sambar . Saying words like thoran was silly as to any outsider, it is just sabzi

I thnk d same..and I doubt even recipe is provided...else how can dey all knw how 2 cook avial and sambar...

Totally agree with you Laxmi.

At home, when we get bawarchis to come and cook dinner just for 50 people, they come with all the ingredients by noon.

It takes them hours to prep the vegs n masalas, etc. Then cooking takes somewhere between 2-4 hrs. And in order that the food is hot, they'll finish cooking just an hr before serving. And they're professionals!!

And MCI wants us to believe these amateurs are able to do everything in 2 hrs! 😲 😡

Rana, for shraadh in our house, we cook meal for around 17 people including our family people, for which we get up as early as 3.00 in the morning...😆... we r 3 ladies in the kitchen and we work till 10.30/11.00... so if we can cook a meal in a dabba in 2 hours, then it is a miracle...😆

Again you are after my Doyal😡😭

Ab bechari, she was told to put vegetables and given the names. As none of the team must have seen avial (forget about tasting it), she cut it as people do for all dishes.(think avial is the only indian dish where vegetables are cut into same shape/size strips)

And I am sure, the chef will taste these avials and go into raptures (Ise kehte hain dish.. WAH WAH) and if you had been the taster, you would have said Ise kehte hain dish?🤢 🤣

I too was laughing seeing doyal cutting vegetables for avial.
They cannot make so many items in given time of 2hrs.
I don't think these contestants knows throughly to make south indian dishes.
Plan the menu take the samadri for cooking cut vegetables ,grinding coconut all these u cannot make in 2 hrs. That to so many items.
Once SNS kokila made gujarathi thali i was surprised to see so many items she had made.
They r fooling us unless u have helping hand u cannot finish in given time.

Nowadays whenever I watch Doyal's antics (shrieks, hain, jumping jacks), Navneet's dramebaazi, Yasmin's tears at the slightest breath, Aditi's tension bhara chehra, etc., I find my self humming the lines : "Ye bhi dramebaaz, Woh bhi dramebaaz,
Saale dramebaaz sab yahaan!" 😕 🤣
