Okay I agree that I should have made my point in a nicer way. I guess I just assumed that most of the people don't use the word "nikaah'" as much because I have been surrounded by people who don't. So I was wrong about making that assumption. To defend my point, I just wanna say when I hear "nikaah", I think of the religious ceremony at the mosque, and only one part of the "shaadi" that happens these days. I know that some people only have the nikaah and not the whole shaadi ceremony, and I highly respect that because that is what is instructed in the Quran. However, I do believe that in this show, when they say nikaah, they don't mean a small ceremony, they mean a big fat shaadi but just refer to it as nikaah which bugs me. And I guess that's where some people disagree because they also use the word in those terms but I personally feel that the extra added rasams are not part of the nikah but part of what we call a wedding, or shaadi. There, I hope I made my side clear as to why the overuse of that word annoys me. But to each their own. I apologize if I offended anyone because I didn't intend to do so.

I'm getting really annoyed by the overuse of the word "nikaah"! The majority of muslims call it shaadi, not nikaah! I understand that they might want to use it sometimes but seriously, I dont think I have heard the word "shaadi" in this show, EVER! they keep saying "nikhat ka nikaah", "aayan ka nikaah", "humeira ka nikah", "maryum apnay nikah say bhaag gayi", "zoya apnay nikaah say bhaagi gayi" and now asad and zoya ka nikah! 😡 When asad said in the precap "ms.farooqi aap mujh se nikaah karain gi?" I laughed out loud! WHO says that?!? Probably like extremely religious people, or maulvis or shaikhs i dont know! but normally, we use the word shaadi! "mujhse shaadi karogi?" Nikaah is only a part of a muslim wedding, a part without which a wedding is incomplete, but still, it's only a part! The whole thing is usually called shaadi! (in today's generation at least).
And also, correct me if I am wrong but engagement ceremony is referred to as mangni not sagaai! That's bugging me! (maybe indian muslims use that word so I apologize in advance but just in general, if they wanna make every word so "muslim" for example "nikaah" then might as well use mangni not sagaai!)

Being a muslim myself this is what irks mee the most!!! Muslims dont go around saying nikkah nikkah all the time! Its part of the shaadi, its not shaadi till the rukhsatii!

Well a true meaning of shaadi in islam is nikha! As told by the prophet (pbuh), the only ceremonies that happen in true Muslim families are nikha( which takes place in a masjid) and valima( reception).

This is correct though. I asked my mom about it and thast what she said too. But still the word 'nikkah' is not as commonly used in daily lives by normal families! But i really like your comment.

Thank you. And I suppose asad being a very traditional person would use such vocabulary! It would have been different of zoya had asked!

I don't use the term shaadi for an Islamic wedding tbh, I never have and haven't heard muslims surrounding me calling it that, we've always called it Nikaah, I guess to each their own. Anyways I don't see anything wrong in them calling it what it is, does it really matter if they call it Nikaah, shaadi or wedding?
