I wasn't planning to comment but reading so many posts here, I thought I should put my views too. When people who said here that it may hurt people's sentiments and the whole thing could just come under bad light, it meant that we aren't questioning people's faith or their personal choices. It means we are questioning the makers who have to shoulder responsibilities and act in a manner that won't hurt people's sentiments. As it is, it gets very tricky if you are portraying people belonging to a sensitive background. They have gone wrong earlier too, but you could at least accept those in certain parameters considering its a fictional show. However, they need to understand the fine line between breaking stereotypes and transcending borders in the name of fiction.Without a serious stand or a proper explanation or at least a disclaimer, this can hurt people's sentiments. They aren't representing a particular section who celebrate or who don't, they are representing a community, doesn't that call for a bit of responsibility? Every community I feel should be given their own space. Give respect, take respect.Participation is a not a criteria too, there's nothing wrong if you are friends with people of other religion, share their sorrows and happiness, be with them during bad and good times which includes attending functions and stuff. I certainly don't hold enough knowledge, but as far as I know each of them have their own limitations. Limitations that make sense to their own kind, that in a way also takes care that we aren't putting each other down. I'd love myself too if communalism fades away and people can live peacefully together, in harmony. You don't necessarily have to prove that in ways that are potential of stating otherwise just because you think it is the 'right' way or because you think it will be taken in the same way you do.To be honest, I expected this show to be different and not show Holi. It seems like they all did it for the need of it. My question to is, was it really necessary to put the sequence in and be like any other show on television. Why couldn't they want to be different? Sometimes I feel that the makers tend to forget that they aren't just catering to the Indian audience. They already have a good show that's keeping viewers hooked. The least you could do is add a disclaimer so sentiments of the community aren't hurt. Also, Asad playing seems very out of character. Even if they show him being forced to or whatever. Honestly I have no expectations now of them showing Ramzan or any related festival in the show. We're not saying its wrong to play, but depicting it in a Muslim culture can be wrong in my opinion. Its not even about India being a secular country and a country with mixed cultures and diversities. Not really about how we as Muslims on a personal level, find a balance where we keep our religious beliefs yet manage to integrate in the society, its about the depiction here. Its about generalization and not one or two persons here and there.Lastly, I would like to make it very clear that I do not intend to put any one or any religion down. I certainly do not intend to offend anyone. So if by any chance this does that, I apologize. Its just that when we feel something is wrong, we speak. That's what I did. At the end, we are all entitled to our own opinions, we got to agree to disagree. Peace. :)
