Now to the main point, I think innocence is inherent. Innocence is in the character. Speaking slowly, meekly or looking confused is not innocence alone. When new grown up Anandi was being chosen, the third one looked more innocent and childlike than Prats. But Prats was chosen (that's another story, but my point was about the "looks").
Toral is okay. She can manage innocence and strength both. And as long as her character is fleshed out well and she acts well enough, the inherent innocence of Anandi can be brought about well.
One should also realise that Anandi is growing. And innocence can be in the actions, in the character not just in choice or looks. Bhairon is also an innocent man IMO, he's honest and a softie at heart, so what if his face doesn't reflect a boyish innocence?
Shiv is also innocent at heart and sensitive. But his face and exterior do not necessarily reflect that. Didn't he look too much of a toughie when he'd just arrived in first episode? Who'd have thought his character would turn out to be so sensitive and nice? Or if the actor even had the capability to act in BV (considering his past shows were flops)?
Shashank's face is so innocent looking. But look at the character he essays and the actions that character has done!
Innocence is in the heart, in actions and behaviour. Not just looks. And I've always wanted Anandi to be strong so I am pretty satisfied with whatever her character is now. Though if considered SOLELY from jodi POV then new Anandi would NEVER ever be accepted. Cardinal rule - BV isn't just about romance or jodis, it is about characters in a certain milieu and how they deal with social issues that affect them and their society. Seen that way, it isn't bad.
