Remember this old song? That's what I have been humming since I saw today's episode. Yes, like most of you, my initial reaction was anger and annoyance. Who does Tanveer think she is? How can she just walk in and topple the delicate balance of the Khan household but after I took a deep breath, I realized that she is just acting like an old friend or a relative who visits us after ages and pretends that everything is still the same and they have the right to dictate terms in our house. We all know how gracious Dilshaad is. Is she ever going to turn a guest away? Never. Tanveer is an old neighbor, probably just like her daughter. Similarly, Asad has fond memories of playing and hanging out with Tanu, just like he has with Ayaan or Najma. Why would he act cold with her?
Then where does Zoya fit in this equation? Today, for the first time, I felt that Zoya was indeed a 'bechari.' A girl, still in search of her identity, has been staying with the Khans for the past few months. She has made a place in everyone's heart in this household (even Akdu's), she has treated their problems like her own and she has supported them through various crisis situations. One would think, she belongs here, is a part of their family but alas, the reality is something different. Tanveer's entry has shaken her for sure. She realizes that she really doesn't belong to this family. She is an outsider and will remain an outsider. Imagine what a jolt that must have felt to her.
We all know Zoya by now. She is not one to give up that easily. She is a fighter and her scar below her full sleeved blouses is a proof of her resilience. After her initial shock, she has bounced back once again. That's Zoya for you. Yes, she did act a little childish today, but remember, Dilshaad had picked this trait of hers, ages ago? Whenever Zoya is stressed, she acts more hyper. Of course, seeing Tanveer and Asad share such camaraderie has shell shocked her completely, but instead of withdrawing into a shell, Zoya is back to her attention seeking and boisterous ways. No one can change that quickly, so why do we expect Zoya to?
As a woman, I did find her antics a little childish- coughing, noisy behavior at the table, following Asad-Tanveer in the garden, her shayari, claiming that she is a neat freak etc. No self respecting woman would act like she did today, but if you look at things from her POV, she did exactly what anyone who is at the verge of losing her only family, her only well wishers in India would do. I don't think it's all about Asad. It's about losing that comfort that there are people in this world who care about her.
Asad, of course, has given her too many mixed signals over the past few weeks. He has catered to her whims and fancies, listened to her patiently, let her hug him and even danced passionately with her under the influence of bhaang, let alone the mini-confession on the sofa. What does a girl think after these incidents? Yes, he does really care for me. He does like me and is attracted to me. She has seen his sensitive side when no one else is around. He has always been rude and cold to her in front of his family members and his behavior was not out of the ordinary for Zoya. She is used to his bitter words but she knows his actions don't always follow his words. That's why she didn't hesitate to butt into his conversation with Tanveer or seek attention from him.
Going by Asad's comment about the jam, it seems he does remember his 'misfit' comment from the other night. So, indirectly, he did indicate that he likes Zoya but she is not right for him. His behavior changed to extra rude after that comment. That's Asad for you. Just like Zoya can't change overnight, Asad can't change either, especially when he is at home, in his comfort zone. By being aloof and rude, he feels he is pushing away Zoya from coming closer. He forgets that even when he shuts all doors, she manages to sneak in through the window.
Symbolisms today:
1. The jam comment was meant for both women. He indicated that old things cannot become habits in the present (Tanveer). She is sweet like jam, but thankfully, he doesn't want it anymore. Also, even though he likes Jam, he won't have it as it's not good for him (Zoya) Typical Asad like statement- confused but conveyed the message.
2. Najma offering water to Zoya. Najma will always be there to support Zoya and she knows Zoya likes her brother
3. Table seating- Tanveer was alone on one side, Najma and Zoya were together. Dilshaad missing- she will not approve of a possible alliance between Asad and Tanveer?
PRECAP:
Gas cylinder mishap to happen tomorrow. Will Zoya save Dilshaad despite her fear of fire? Or will Zoya be blamed again? Will have to wait and see
Billo-Tanveer-Razia nexus real or imaginary?? Could go either ways. Kudos to CVs to keep us guessing.
