Calcatta/Kolcatta

HEY GUYS

Can u plz tell is what's the real spelling: Calcatta Or Kolkatta?

I mean sometimes i see both the spellings being used...

It's Kolkata...before it used to be Calcutta, but changed it to Kolkata! 😊

They changed the spelling just 3-4 years ago, I guess...

According to Wikipedia:

Kolkata (Bangla: ??????, Hindi: ??????), is the capital of the Indian state of West Bengal and was capital of British India until 1912. The city's name was officially changed from Calcutta to Kolkata in January 2001. Despite the new name being phonetically closer to the Bengali version, many people and organizations still refer to it as Calcutta. In Hindi, the city is referred to as Kalkatta.

They changed the capital because Calcutta was a British name...so, they did not want the "british" name, so changed it to Indian version Kolkata.
