PART 1
As soon as he took a sip of his piping hot coffee, he jerked forward. "What the hell! Why do people in this country drink so much milk??? Didn't I mention a 'dash of milk' or are you just tone deaf???"
Natasha flinched at the tone of her boss and stared at him. She had clearly instructed the pantry boy to make it as black as possible, but looks like he had chosen the wrong day to flaunt off his coffee making skills.
"I will have it changed immediately... Sir." Hearing the emphasis on the term 'Sir' Arjun looked apologetically towards his secretary.
"I'm sorry. Its just that ever since I've come here I'm just caught up with work. I guess I need a break." Rubbing the back of his neck Arjun tried to calm down.
"I thought you did that last night! What happened? Didn't find a girl good enough to hit on???" Natasha replied smiling and picked up the blasphemous mug of coffee.
"Ha... ha... very funny! If I just wanted to hit on girls then I can do that over here.. on you also... right???"
Straightening up, Natasha looked at him with raised eyebrows. "Yarrite... then why don't you Arjun?" Folding her hands across her chest, she stared at her friend to answer her.
"Well... because, a) I've never looked at you THAT way, b) I donot mix my personal and profession life, and c) Your husband will kill me!" Arjun replied with a straight face.
Natasha burst out laughing and Arjun relaxed seeing her. She was his best friend and someone who understood him the most. He had missed her all these years when he was abroad and she was in India. Making her upset was the last thing he wanted to do.
"You know Arjun... its actually demeaning to have a boss who is hot and handsome, and loves to have a string of meaningless relationships, but wont hit on you. Not good for my self esteem!"
"Aahh... C'mon nuts! You know you're beautiful. And I respect you too much to take advantage of you."
"Shukar hai! (Thank god!) Atleast I am amongst those few handful women whom you respect. But the rest of females are just a piece of meat, aren't they??? Let me tell you that I don't like this attitude Arjun. You've to respect every woman... you cant just use and throw..."
"Oh please Nuts! Gimme a break. I treat women how they deserve to be treated. If a woman is throwing herself at me and I take up the offer, then im not the one accountable here. Respect has to be earned, it cant be demanded!!!"
"But Arjun..."
"Ok enough of this! Tell me about my schedule for tomorrow."
Sighing in resignation, Natasha stared at Arjun. "Has something happened Arjun? Why are you so irritated today??? This is so unlike you. Subah se dekh rahi hoon... whats the problem?"
Arjun frowned. He was the one always harping on not mixing his personal and professional life. And here he was, snapping at everyone who dared to come even front of him... for no fault of theirs.
"Ohh... you don't know him? He's a cradle snatcher! He targets young, helpless women and takes advantage of them..."
Arjun gritted his teeth. How dare she!!! All he had wanted to do was have a good time with his friends. He had not planned to pick up a woman but harmless flirting was in the agenda.
Instead he had met that... that... loud mannerless obnoxious girl! And she had managed to even insult him... how dare she!!! If his friends had not stopped him then he would've strangled her to death!
Natasha watched the play of emotions on Arjuns face. From the time she had started working with him, she had never seen him so... not in control of his emotions! He rarely day dreamed and abused imaginary people. Which is why, right now his state was worrying her. Maybe she should cancel his appointments for the day, he really does need a break!
"Arjun... maybe you should..."
"Send me a fresh coffee Nuts! I want to study everything before I meet the Ahluwalias in an hour." Arjun cut in before Natasha could voice her concerns, and dismissed her by burying his face in the documents in front of him.
Natasha sighed as she made her way out of his cabin and to the pantry. Well, atleast she was accompanying him to the meeting. She should try and change his mood in the journey so that he loosens up.
Ahluwalia head office...
"No D... I don't think this will work. If the Singhanias want to collaborate with us THEN we can put up such conditions. But Rudra uncle was dads old friend, and dad is very fond of Arjun. So even though we need to maintain professionalism, we should definitely try to sweeten the offer. Don't forget even we will be benefiting on a large scale with this merger."
"Kya baat hai! Lady Hitler aaj badi dildaar hogayi hai? (o wow! the lady hitler is being very generous?) What has happened for your mood to be so great?" Danish jumped his eyebrows up and down playfully, taking advantage of his boss' good mood.
Arohi smiled and leaned back in her chair.
"You... you... samajhti kya ho tum apne aap ko... how dare you! You..."
That monsters angry red face flashed in her eyes and she felt a giggle burst out in her chest. He had been so flustered and agitated that he could not find the right words to even insult her. Well... serves him right! After what he had done, he deserved all the humiliation that he had faced last night.
"Oh nothing... Just cleared some old accounts. Anyway, give me the Singhanias file. If I've to work with them then I should know everything about them."
Danish handed the file to her. "Have you met Arjun Singhania before?"
"Naah..." Arohi answered scanning the file in her hands. "We were too small when we met. He was a fun loving person to be with. Later, we both got busy with education and career. But dad has told me a lot about him and he sounds like a completely professional guy. Im looking forward to working with him."
"You know... hes very good looking too. I mean he has a personality to die for. The way he talks, dresses or even conducts business. He's very chivalrous and a charming person. Also hes a complete..."
"D... do you like have a crush on him?" Arohi looked up from her file, through her glasses, with one eyebrow raised. "Tere mooh se kisi ladke ki itni taareef pehli baar sunn rahi hoon... (You praising a guy so much is new to me)"
D narrowed his eyebrows. "Ya... I have a crush on him. Lekin meri wife ko mat batana, warna voh mujhe divorce de degi! (Please dont tell my wife or she will divorce me!)"
Arohi chuckled and Danish stared at her wide eyed. "You are laughing? In office? This means something really good HAS happened! Kisi employee ne tujhe aise haste hue dekh liya toh usska heart fail hojayega. (if some employee sees you laughing like this, then his heart will fail for sure) I think you should maintain your reputation of giving people a heart attack by yelling at them... not smiling at them!"
Danish chuckled and Arohi sobered up. Seeing her impassive professional face, his smile dropped. "Uhh... I will have a coffee sent for you."
"Better!" Arohi pushed her specs up her nose. She stared at him till he scurried away from her office and dug her head back into the file to learn more about her future 'partner'.
