Part 13: Only him; only her.

That evening, much against my better judgement, I put pen to paper and gave shape to the wayward thoughts that had come out as a story. With Prithvi gone, my mind strayed far from assignment that were due.

Sitting by his stained unfinished wall, amidst the splotches of exotic colors and the long white yarn screen that hung from one corner - which artfully lay in folds covering nothing at all - was a constant reminder of the fledgling I was in the presence of his grand disarray, as I attempted to write.

During those initial days, when I had seen him go about transform a bare wall into a fount of color and chimera, I had wondered if creating shapes with the thistles of brushes was what made him an artisan. But to see before it could exist...to weave a vision with the fine silken threads of creativity out of the dredge of nothingness, I then realized, was his real gift.

Lord! I felt a shiver pass through me with that realization.

For once, I thought I saw the person he was through Mitra's eyes. But I was wrong; irrefutably wrong when she walked into the room and made me discard my unsorted perceptions of him forever.

To date, I cannot help but laugh at my own foolishness. That I had naively presumed to understand the wonderment and the array of emotions I saw in her eyes.

That it had been the yearning of a lifetime. That it had been an iota of regret for the love that was lost to them.

How else could have I seen it any differently when after our chat that evening, I discerned I didn't know him at all?

For to know him, I had to know her.

And wasn't that one task I would never scale?

In truth, it was everything beyond my grasp and yet, if I were to put it in words, it was a satiety that lived on every moment for the woman his silent love had left behind.

For the man he had become loving her.

In having established the finality of my incomprehension about them, I made humble efforts to pen my conversation with Mitra in way of the story that was still waiting to be written.

To be continued...

Yea...
These lines..depict more than one can see through to it.
I dont know how many are in for Mitra's pov. But count me in.😃

That I had naively presumed to understand the wonderment and the array of emotions I saw in her eyes.

That it had been the yearning of a lifetime. That it had been an iota of regret for the love that was lost to them.

Like the firefly that is attracted to the fire and goes up in flames.Prithvi is a figure that appeals to the heart causing him to be enfolded by love, yet the same love would burn him when he falls in love with M. Going up in flames... how could he stop...

The dance of passion continues between them and it does not look like the fire will die ever.. Not in a rush for Shiv yet.
Thanks for updating.

Avi this did strike a cord for me too...
Your view & interpreation of it in context to P-M is very apt & beautiful. Said it all in those lines. Love & all that it causes within you...

Hayee...
..."For the man he had become loving her"... Wow.
There's so much to feel & expect here... not finding words. Good that you have left it for more as I can't seem getting over it. Will wait for you to continue further... till then will just be in the shadows feeling & trying to absorb it...
Please continue soon...
