Salim-Javed mystery?

Salim-Javed is the greatest writer duo in history of Indian cinema, associated with greatest hits and they made Amitabh what he was. They redefined cinema and uplifted stature of writers.

I've always wondered what was the reason behind their split? How did such an amazing partnership break up? They even used to give interviews to magazines together in past and seemed to be close. And such amazing work can't come about if they hadn't shared amazing understanding and team spirit. What happened then?

Also, I am curious about Salim saab. Javed Akhtar went on to continue as a very successful lyricist, evolved into a public intellectual, activist, celebrity. He's there at talent shows, award shows, talk shows, film fests. Whereas Salim saab is rarely seen in public! I was searching about him to know if he even won honours like Padma Sri/Padma Bhushan. I couldn't find any info. All I see are articles about him as part of Salim-Javed duo, interviews wherein he psychoanalyses his sons! Isn't he quite reclusive compared to Javed? Why didn't he work much?

After split with Javed, Salim saab worked on some so so films as writer. Never did much work as in past and never the same quality either (I mean, in terms of awesomeness). Salim saab is never seen at awards, no or very rare interviews to magazines and never seen him on TV in special programs on classic cinema or even his own cinema! I am curious why is this so?

AB Sr figures quite prominently in the Salim Javed split. Salim-Javed had approached AB Sr for Mr India and when AB Sr declined, Javed was upset with AB Sr and said he will never work with AB Sr. Salim was not happy with Javed's decision. After that at AB SR's holi pty Javed went and told AB Sr that Salim did not want to work with him. Salim was upset with the false accusation because it was Javed's decision and it as not his decision. After this they had a big argument abt the false accusations on Salim.

I always felt salim never got his due compared to javed

Javed definitely seems way more shrewd and diplomatic than Salim. If the instances are true then it is really bad, whatever he did to the man who introduced him to industry.

The end of this partnership is really unfortunate.

Salim seems really bitter and disillusioned. Javed doesn't mention Salim except in programs about their films, where he alone gives interviews and insights on how they wrote the characters. I wonder if Salim is never called to such programs or he himself does not go.

Rumours sound confusing. Some say they had rift due to Javed's closeness to Shabana Azmi! Others say Javed used to write everything whereas Salim used to give only suggestions for improvements and he put his name alongside in credits, only because it was he who had introduced Javed to industry. Lot of hearsay and stories flow about the duo and their split.

Just checked the Wiki, they both are again gearing up for Zanjeer together.

Javed Akhtar and his wife Shabana, the home wrecker.. both are repulsive. Think they are the greatest. Hate their site atr award functions... Comparitively Gulzar, Saleem look more down to earth.
