Another example that comes to mind is Mohnish Behl. He was widely popular and acclaimed as Dr. Shashank in Sanjeevani and won many awards. But in Bollywood, after 90s they even kicked him out of the picture as character actor. Girls swooned over him in Kuch Toh Log Kahenge also but he's no longer there even on TV. All this despite belonging to one of the biggest film families in Indian cinema, being son of the greatest actress of her time, and being considerably good looking and talented?

I don't think dedication alone counts because many less dedicated ones also made it and many dedicated ones did not.

Mohnish chose to quit the serial in question coz he wasn't comfortable with the level of intimacy required onscreen!
That holds true for the other choices he's made both in movies and television. Which is why he couldn't be cast as a lead actor.

Aamir was bonding big time with Karan at music release of Peepli Live also, so much so that seeing camaraderie between them media had speculated that Karan was planning a film with him or had left SRK camp for Aamir camp!

Mamu and Mami forging newer connections to get Imran more work!

Karan gets along with everyone except RGV. Even him and Salman are friends. I was sad that Salman or Kat was not at KJOs birthday.

Also MKBKM is a clean flop I heard it recovered it cost but made little profits?

Many have spoken about luck, destiny, nepotism in shaping an actor's fortune but One also have to keep in mind that the resolve and perseverance of the actor plays a huge part.

A Sonam will never make it big because she palpably lacks the drive and motivation to grind on despite failures and misfortune. She seems to be in this industry only because it was expected of him and not out of any deep conviction or passion for the trade. But just like Rohan Gavaskar in spite of being given the whole cricketing world on a platter couldn't conjure up enough mental fortitude and killer instinct, she also appears to lack that sense of desperation or urgency to fight the odds. This is a case with most star kids I believe.. they do not want the glory of success badly enough or not willing to take the bad and the ugly with the good in this industry or want everything to come to them rather than them taking the rough road. Kareena survived in spite of a disastrous first 6-7 years because she just wanted to succeed badly enough. Mental fortitude, patience and a will to press on despite all odds can work wonders sometimes. Talent can only take you so far.

Talent does not get anyone anywhere I love Salman but dioes he have any real talent he just has a stlye

yahi tou jadoo hai silver screen ka
yaha koi tik nahi sakta
jo tikta hai wo khas hota hai
mohnish behl to me at initial days he was not that great actor but i loved him in hum sath sath hai
and after that he kinda look so old for movies
and ya in Kuch to log he fell ill and they replaced him and i heard that he was replaced bcoz of his attitude but i didnt believe that
har actor ka even har insan ka apna luck ussay star bhi bana sakta hai or bekaar bhi
so it s all the game of fate

@czarcastic

Yeah I remember why he quit the latest serial. But it's odd because the same guy used to do many rape and eve teasing scenes as a villain in 90s! I can't believe he refused intimate scenes in movies also this is why he was never cast as a lead actor. Anyways he did not even last as a character actor after 90s.

^true that..heard he took the decision post marriage(which doesn't really make sense coz he got married in 1991 and he continued doing negative roles after)!

guess it was a personal choice...when one is young one is more carefree :)

Fabulous post! 👏

I agree. But there are instances of many non-star kids/outsiders also who tried their best but did not make it. And some others who were damn casual about themselves but still made it as actors! (Manisha, Juhi, Sushmita were way too casual and lax about their careers but made a mark. Rekha was UTTERLY useless and I don't know how she kept getting work in all those early movies till she later reworked herself and overhauled her life!)

Still I agree about drive. Mumtaz's rise from small time character actress in B grade action films to vamp in A list films and finally an A list heroine is biggest example of what a never say die spirit can do for a person! With every film, that lady grew and transformed herself.
