Well since i knew about indian soaps, there was always a female protagonist being the main character of the show. Almost all these leading ladies have proved to be a Sita or Radha or Maa Durga or Maa Kali or Maa Laxmi in some way. To name a few-Pratigya,Tulsi, Bani, Akshara,, Archana etc. These are all strong women(Some are real weepy and teary eyed though). Whether it be their moral, their traditions, their respect towards elders. Others are real fighters for justice like Pratigya. These women believe strongly in what is right and fight for righteousness.
When PSH started i had hopes that Sugni would be a woman to make a change as well. I thought that this bedni tribe- this selling and using of women would stop...I was wrong
Let's see 200 episodes have completed but no change as yet😲
Not only Sugni, all the women in this serial is somehow a disgrace- Rewa and Suman are three faced witches that r only interested in property, and status, MS has failed as a mother..sending your daugher back at her sasural after finding out that she is mistreated is way past my limits😡, Kuhu even being that intelligent can't see pass her beast of a ''PERFECT HUBBY". Champa knows what is right from wrong but is still doing the wrong thing😭. Gulabiya-geeez i don't know what to say, Like daughter like mother🤢
Sad to say but out of all the ladies in this series only Amrita is good
I've seen a lot of vamps but i somehow fell in love with them. 😉 but PSH😕
What a Shame of the portrayal of women for the first time on indian tv

It is really sad when you think about what could have been and what is. I read somewhere today , that the concept was good but the execution was poor, in highlighting social ills. I disagree. What went wrong here , in my humble opinion, is that wthe creative team, writers, producers did not take the time to put in the proper research about the subjects they wanted to takle.
They have made a mockry of very serious social ills. And even with this seemingly revamping of the show i don't think anything has changed much.
Sugni was a strong, self respecting girl...she once was concerned about doing odd jobs to make money just so she would not have to do her Sardakhi. She was determined not to become a bedni...Then Reva return...She showed the guts to walk away from the man she loved just so she would not be termed a home wreker...Up until that point Sugni had the support of the audience...Then Some how Sugni decides to sell herself...she started going downhill from their. What she is now is an arrogant , self righteous girl who as no remorse for ruining her friends life...wheather it was real love or not is not the point, she knew very well Amrita wa in love with Adi!!! All of a Sudden it was n longer about getting out of the bedia stigma but a cat and mouse game with a love triange that no one wanted to see
They made a mockry of the Bedia community.

Then we had Champa...the messed that up so bad !!! The Victim of such a hideous act...can not get justice and the attempts they made were 1/2 thought out and poorly shown. She continues to be victimed and trumatised...is that the message...there is no hope for Victims.????

I agree the way these women are portrayed is very bad. No one cares to help bednis and these thakurains are only after wealth. While others choose to be abused.
