My thoughts:
1. zoya wanted to buy as much time as possible for Mariyam to run away. Farther she goes, harder it is for these people to find her and get her back.
2. Asad came to help her because he feels she is his responsibility since she is a guest of his mom. He doesn't agree to what she does, but wants to protect her for the same reason. It was not his uncle who came behind them. If I have watched it carefully, it was the sarpanch or someone of the village along with groom's side people. One need not know if a person has done something wrong to call a person a gunda. Their weapons and chasing is enough.
If Zoya had made it apparent to everyone that she was not the bride and what the groom has done to Mariyam, she would've been killed and they would've gone after Mariyam and brought her back and either killed her or get her married to the same guy.

At the end of the day, it is fiction. We all need to remember that.

I agree they would've swung it either way, but if you look in the other point of view, maybe Zoya didn't want to expose the fact and make the girl's parents get humiliated. She did like the two sisters of Mariyam and they were really nice to her. I don't know what went on in her mind but that is another way of looking at it. I hate it when they show the blabber mouth girls (female leads) become all of a sudden quiet and not tell the main thing. It happens all the time in these soaps. At the end they somehow convert that act as selfless act of the too good to be true heroine. Hahaha, my way of looking at it. There are no zoyas or Khushis in this world. Every one of us will put ourselves before helping some third person.

Not forgetting that it was a village and these kind of matters aren't always solved in the girl's favour! And if she had made it public that they wouldn't had been able to run away as everyone would be aware of the situation. And if the bride's parents aren't saying anything to the groom then I don't think others would have done anything! They would have forced mariyaam into it.

The biggest point is that it was done by zoya and so far if you've understood anything about her then that is that she does the right things but not in the best way! It's always a drama!!..
Your way was a way to go too but they had to match timing with PV scenes. I agree though, it could have been better at points but it was a MS and another one to come. they had to buy time. It happens in every show! 😊

If I have understood Zoya, she is brave and forthright and would like to deal a situation in an upfront way which was by exposing the rapist. She was talking to Mariam about justice and that the guy should be punished. She is not aware of the village rules and in her naive and courageous way would have confronted the assembled people with the real facts.

The very fact that this rape should be hushed was not palatable to her. The creatives could have used this opportunity to show that these things would no longer be kept under wraps. I do not live in India, but the recent Delhi rape incident and the public outcry/protest against it could have been portrayed.

Anyways, hoping the future episodes would address it.

The bold part is very true, I don't live in India as well.. It would have been a great thing if they had shown that but hopefully these things will get shown in the future episode, they have shown them before as well.. maybe a bit more strongly now. These little things would really make this show stand out.! .. Here's me hoping as well! :D
