"RK.." she called tentatively as they were about to go inside. With the memory of the shared passionate moment still fresh in their mind, they were almost silent on the journey back.
"Biwi, will you speak up or are you taking over the duty of guarding the door for the night?"
She grimaced inwardly.. how could he just turn back to his old mocking self when it still made her insides quiver just to look at him... did those moments in the studio mean nothing, was he not affected by what had almost happened... was it just her imagination again?
"Biwi!" came the impatient call.
"You ... you have chocolate on your face."
He brushed his fingers across the lips and chin.
"Not there ... beneath your lips." He still didn't get it.
Should she? Could she?
She reached over a tentative hand to touch his face and felt him freeze. But he didn't stop her. so she wiped at the chocolate, conscious of the tremor in her fingers and the bang bang of her heart.. could he hear it? She cast a furtive glance thru her lashes and found him watching her.
Quickly finishing off the task, she took a step back looking at her finger now touched with the dried but sticky chocolate. She rubbed it off with her thumb keeping her eyes on the task, anything that would distract her from looking at him.
A touch on her face made her jerk and raise her apprehensive eyes to his.
"You have it too." He announced and proceeded to return the favour. She felt her skin burn at his touch. Then holding her eyes captive with his he took his hand to his mouth to suck away the chocolate. His eyes dropped to her mouth and she drew in a quick breath suddenly feeling breathless at the suggestion in those eyes... she could feel her lips tingle as if touched by the heat of his gaze.
"RK you are back," Dipali sashayed towards them. "So what did the doctor say?" Her eyes took in the agitation of Madhu. "Is it okay for you to have normal food or is it going to be Daliya again?" she gave an expressive shudder as if disgusted by the thought.
"We...didn't .. that is..."
"Biwi your voice recorder seems to be stuck today. Must be the effect of something I fed you." He smirked at her glare. "Biwi you should say thank you for Bha-bhi's concern. How horrible she is feeling for you for having Daliya.. when she has been having Continental and Chinese from the day she was born!"
"Oh! Have you had dinner then?"
"Dipali..." Madhu started only to be cut off by RK again.
"Kyom Biwi, why should RK OR his wife report to others?" his eyes burned with derision.
"It is just that mummiji was waiting for you to serve dinner."
"Then you can tell her to have her dinner before it turns poisonous."
He started to move away then stopped to turn back.
"Thank you for the chocolate, Biwi."
"Chocolate?"
"Yes, the one you shared with me... I never imagined sharing melted chocolate with you could be so..." he paused "...adventurous! But the next time I would prefer to share it from your ..." His eyes dropped to her mouth.
Madhu gasped knowing what he had left unsaid and wondered if her face looked as if it was on fire. Probably did she thought seeing the curious glance Dipali was giving her and hearing the happy chuckle that was fading away with the steps that took him up the stairs.
