Tanushree Dutta now joins the league of actresses who are escorted by their bodyguards wherever they go.

Mallika Sherawat was the first one to hire the services of security guards, followed by Celina Jaitley, and then Sameera Reddy. Tanushree says an incident at a Delhi exhibition last month, prompted her to take this decision.

Frenzied mob

Explaining her reasons for getting a bodyguard, Tanushree, who has just returned from doing a song in Priyadarshan's Bhagam Bhag says, "Last month, I had gone to a for the inauguration of a Delhi exhibition. Though the organisers tried to provide enough security it still fell short. There was too much crowd. It got so scary that I had to be whizzed away from the back gate and escorted to my hotel room where I was confined to giving media interviews.

This isn't the first time that Tanushree has had a scary mob experience, "The first time was in Rajasthan but it wasn't so bad. In Delhi, for the first time, I got scared by the strength of the mob.

There were people falling from all sides and it got out of hand. No one actually touched me but there was so much pushing and trampling that I thought being this tiny thing I might get squashed by the crowds. I was terrified that a stampede would occur. My hairdresser was trying to protect me. I give credit to organisers that they made sure I was safely reached my room, but it was frightening experience."

Is that why Tanushee wants a bodyguard? "Yes. Though I have been told that such incidents don't happen every day I will take up a security guy the next time I am at a public event. It would make me feel very restricted but I don't want to go through a similar experience again."

Don't blame image

Does she feel her glamorous sexy image has anything to do with her getting this response? "I don't think so. I have a mixed image. In fact, in my coming releases you will see me in various looks.

Good Boy Bad Boy is a comedy, Speed is an action thriller, Risk is a cop-and-underworld story, while Raj Kanwar's Raqeeb is a love story-thriller. I have given a free hand to the technicians to experiment with my looks.

Initially, newcomers are hesitant to experiment but after Chocolate, my image became too hot and filmmakers were reluctant to try something new. Fortunately there is lot of scope for improvement."
