After the less than satisfactory episode on Monday, we got a blockbuster yesterday. Good dialogues and good performances all around.
In my late teens, my chachi's father one day pointed to my parents and said to me "that is a perfect marriage. One falls sick, the other needs to take medicine".
Therein lies the definition of marriage - respect, trust, responsibility, care, cherishing, hopes and dreams, laughter and tears, ups and downs, dependability, nurturing, love - all mutual, all together, all as one, till you reach a stage where its two bodies but one entity. It takes a life time to achieve - but its the belief that it exists and is achievable that gets things off to a good start. It is what Pankhudi believes in and Adi does not.
So to the episode - Shivam is being pleaded with and Adi blamed for ruining Pankhudi's life. He then does the only thing he can think of to handle the situation, shut everyone up and protect his friend. We got the cliched maang me sindoor, but what followed was terrific.
Starting with a stinging slap, Pankhudi questions his motives. She tries to explain that he has taken their friendship to another level. Badgered on all sides, he protests his care for friend, he would do anything for her and their friendship. He discounts responsibility and says they are individuals who will continue to look after themselves. Almost unforgivably, he says he never wanted to marry Pankhudi, if he wanted to he would have done so long ago.
Ambika then voices the fear that everyone is probably feeling - what he calls handling the situation today, will be a mistake tomorrow. Finally, dadaji steps in and begins to reconcile everyone, including Pankhudi and Adi, to what happened.
Interestingly, at this stage in the Paya relationship, they respect and trust each other, they care for each other, they protest any pointing of fingers at the other, they are willing to go the extra mile for each other. This is the pinnacle of friendship, but only the foundation of a good marriage. Long road ahead before they reach the stage where one falls ill and the other needs to take medicine.

Naman, Shivam and clan - accusing the Guptas of staging the whole thing to make Adi their son in law. Seriously, wasn't it you people who pursued Pankhudi even after she told Shivam she could not marry him? 😡
