When I was going through the last thread, it was brought to my attention that it is a certain, very special someone's birthday today! Her words sound like poetry, even when they are prose, and her optimism and love for the characters and her fellow DC members knows no bounds...and that is why we LOVE her and wish her the happiest of happy birthdays and a wonderful year ahead!

I love the way the episode was constructed. There are two couples, with two problems regarding their children and two solutions. Everything seems to be running perfectly in parallel except for the one thing that joins these two problems and solutions. The solution to one problem precludes a solution to the other. Aarti must be kept entirely stress-free, but in order to save Prashant, they would have to rock her world and interrupt the solution to the problem of Yash and Aarti protecting the life of their child. On the other hand, Aarti being kept stress free seals Prashant's doom. Only one problem can really be solved and that has become the crux of the plot at this point. Brilliant weaving of the story, complimented by some nifty editing!
Dubey and Aarti are sort of in one camp and Shobha and Yash in the other. DA want to save their child at any cost and cannot see anything beyond that at this point. SY, on the other hand are assessing the risks of such a big decision and trying to come up with the best way to do this. Dubey is selfish for wanting to save Prashant, even at the potential cost of Aarti's happiness, the same way Aarti is selfish for wanting to save her baby at the potential cost of her other kids having a mother for the rest of their lives. So to me, both of them are entirely defensible in their stances. It is true that Prashant has done a lot wrong in his life, but you can't hold that against him when he is faced with life and death. At this point, Dubey is not concerned with whose son Ansh is, really but more with the fact that Ansh is Prashant's only hope, and he will do whatever it takes. Today when he told Shobha not to bother, he kind of reminded me of Aarti when she ran away. She was so scared of and hurt by Yash's assumed rejection of her child that she ran away to take care of the kid all by herself! Similarly, Dubey is reacting to Shobha's "rejection" of Prashant in favour of Aarti.
What is interesting though, is that Prashant can speak for himself and says that he doesn't want to ruin Aarti's life again, while the baby can't really speak for itself: the decision lies entirely with Aarti and Yash and I think that is where the ultimate choice of solution may come in.
It was so sweet for a second to see Yash remember Arpita casually and happily, for the sake of Aarti. It was a testament to his change that he consulted memories of Arpita in order to make Aarti smile and in order to best take care of Aarti. It was that very smile that made it possible for him to move past his obsession with Arpita and treat her as a beloved memory, and now it is beautiful to see him fight for it. Even more endearing than that was perhaps how fussy Aarti was being. It shows how comfortable she finally is with him, that she can finally articulate what she does and does not want rather than allowing him to always dictate the terms and being happy for whatever kindness he threw her way. She is not afraid of pushing his buttons because she knows he is not going to just get annoyed and give up; she has faith that he is here for keeps, and that is heartening! As long as the worry of the baby hangs over her head, we won't see the carefree Aarti of Mumbai, but her substantive faith in herself and Yash and her comfort level is probably higher than it was then, which I much prefer. She is not being subversive or passive aggressive in her demands but just expressing them up front and I loved that!
