Oh wheee! You watched! *claps happy* Are you already out there on GoT posting up? I'm going to quickly wrap up one last doc for the night and be there, if you are... =))
I'll post here only...since neither of them are around in the FC right now.
*Possible Dexter spoilers*
LOL so this show is HEAVY to watch...I couldn't really marathon it that easily also and had to watch the last half in bits and pieces.
The ice-truck killer arc was very well handled over the course of the season...with it's introduction, the effect it has on Dexter, his life, Deb...like a chain reaction one after the other...the revelation that he turned out to be Dexter's BROTHER was deffo a surprise to me...I do have a question as to why Harry didn't save him at that point...did he already know that the second child was mentally disturbed so he kept Dex away from him?
I do like the message they sort of put out by the end of it...what differentiates Dex from his brother even if they have the same basic need to kill based on their traumatic experience with blood and watching their mother massacred...Harry's code basically won out in the end...so deeply ingrained in Dexter ...and no matter how much Dex may say he is incapable of experiencing normal human emotions, they showed him experience those at many points...He obviously cares for Deb a lot...despite being "damaged" inside...he protects the people he loves...be it Deb or Rita later on...and he makes mistakes...which backfire on him in various ways.
The whole bit in the end with a tormented Dex so rattled from his usual composure as he goes about killing his own brother...it was just...eerie to watch...disturbing...but then that is what this show isπ...I mean we're basically watching serial killers bonding for god's sakeπ
Line of the season has to be Rita saying to Dex in the end..."Who'd have thought she'd fall for a serial killer (referring to Deb)" and Dex goes, "What are the odds" in this ironic si deadpan tone and I was likeπ
Dokes being obsessed with and constantly suspicious of Dex is another thing that is interesting to watch in my opinion...especially his one liners at Dexπ
Oh and the last scene of the seasonπ€£...Dexter imagining all the people secretly thinking of him as a HERO...haha hilarious it was...dark humor indeedπ

I knew you'd like it! The season just escalates into extended climax through the last episodes!@Rudy - So I think there can be different ways of looking at it. For one, while Dex the baby sits bawling his lungs out, Rudy sits eerily calm for a little boy, and like the grown up Rudy tells Dex, it's as if he's already turned into a monster psyche starting that moment. In Dexter's case, it's a disturbed psyche - one that he battles with in his years of growing up and learns to tame and direct with a code that Harry supervises with. In Rudy's case, it's like the psyche has settled into a chilling hollow for real. The gap that Dex talks about it is literally personified in Rudy's case. And one could argue that if he was so unaffected, so hollow, and so rid of ABSOLUTELY any sense of emotions/morals, why was he seeking Dex, his brother out? I think from his years of growing up, it's an idea he is possessed with, to reunite with Dex. But in time, especially after he discovers Dex, AND that they are "same people" with the "same demons" his drive to get Dex on his side is out of this idea that they can do this together, without the need of any veils! Again, Dex himself has this perpetual subconscious, a need to find someone he can be himself with. Yet, for Dexter, it is this far fetched idea of normalcy, that he really doesn't expect to find or fulfill, even if he can't stop seeking it out, without even realizing it himself so many times. In Rudy's case, it's about becoming a PAIR of demons. There's no normalcy he seeks - only that he can share his sociopath world with another JUST like him, and incidentally his brother...Anyway - so either Harry leaves Rudy to be rescued by the next team, because he thinks the boy is damaged enough - as Rudy claims - and he makes an on the spot decision to separate the boys and save at least one, the best he can?Or - and this speculation is still a mildly holding out speculation for me, although there have been instances which render it more improbable than not - I can't help but get the thought at odd points that Dex might be Harry's own illegitimate son from his mother out of their covert affair... And so he saves Dex? There are a lot of instances to belie this possibility though, including that it would seem likely that Rudy in his long and meticulous years of planning this reunion with Dex would have learned of the fact?---@Setting Dex apart from Rudy - They do! And it's amazing to watch how the series and the story segues into series of events that just inevitably get you in a strange place of understanding Dex. Even feeling for him. And it's Harry's code that somehow, regulates the outlet of his bloodlusting tendency, but repeating myself, there is an inner need in him, to seek normalcy, which really sets him apart. There is a scene in the next season that I don't want to mention for spoilers sake, but you realize VERY explicitly there, that despite this strange case of his psyche affected by the incident of his childhood, a part of him REALLY wants to FEEL something. Like normal people. And of course, the whole Harry code and his upbringing is going to go under newer versions of scrutiny in the next season, given the conclusion of this finale - Shumi said this before I'd watched, and I agree, season 2 is like FANTASTIC! You're at the edge of your seat so perpetually through the next season, because things begin to spiral out of control in such an avalanche manner! And the way they wrap up the multiple crazy loose ends... π It's such amazing tight writing through and through! And you're not very far off from one tangent of the matter at least - aka Doakes.---@final scene π It's a pretty crafty scene in terms of viewer sentiments at that point! π A part of you roots for the brother Dex is to Deb in the last couple episodes. And a part of you knows, the sociopath is hardly past!
