Ok well I live in the US and over here the legal age for drinking alcohol is 21 while the voting age is 18. I mean at 18 you are old enough to have a hand in shaping ur country's future by voting but you are not old enough to decide whether to drink or not. Drinking is a matter of choice and adults should be allowed to make that choice. I am not advocating children drinking alcohol but I am saying that by giving 18 year olds the right to vote u r saying that u r an adult and deserve the right to make important decisions, so drinking should just be one of those decisions.

Zara drinking age should not be lowered and i'll explain why. If any of you are old enough to buy your self a car insurance you will know the older you get lesser you pay, the younger you are more you pay. Simple reason, the younger people are more recklessly(as studies go) they tend to behave reclessly for many reasons 1) Its the youth that makes you want to be bold 2) You have very little or NO responsibilities and dependants- meaning spouse, children, or old parents ! 3) At 18 you start to feel i am answerable to NO one as i am an adult.

I am not saying all this changes drasticaly at 21, but it does to a large extent. You may be working and feel more responsible as you are in proper mature enviorment. You have a lot more at stake than you did 3 years ago. Your careerand reputation mostly !!

So the same reasoning applies for drinking age. You need to be mature to handle the responsibility that comes with intoxication.

While voting is different, at least you are not temporarily intoxicated and your senses incapable of making the right to elect your goverment.

I agree with you. At 18, many people are still immature and cannot handle the outcome of being intoxicated.

I do agree with u ..in UK drinking age is 18 but i think it should be 21 coz most people in uni spend their loan money on alcohol and have no responsibilities...i thin 21 is a gud age coz u are starting to realise responsibilities!

I get that a lot of people are irresponsible at 18 but doesnt that mean we shudn't have the right to make major decisions, but we are allowed to vote at 18, consent for sex at as early as 14-15 in certain states, drive at 15-16 and yet we aren't allowed to drink. voting is such a major responsibility and we are allowed to have that at 18 yet we cant decide if we want a drink. That makes no sense to me and I feel it sends a very odd message that "sure you are old enough to decide the fate of your nation but not to decide if you want to have a little alcohol". Sex can have some serious consequenes and at 14-15 apparently you are responsible enough to make a sound decision about sex but at 18 you are not regarding drinking. While I dont think 14-15 is a good age to decide regarding sex I do feel that 18 is a good age to decide almost all aspects of your life since that is the beginning of adulthood.

P.S. if that made no sense I am sorry, its 3AM and i am tired as hell and I just wanted to respond before going to bed. 🥱

I don't think that the drinking age should be lowered.
But, well most of the college students drink alcohol even before they are 21. So, I don't see any meaning of such rule.
But, There are many bad consequences of underage drinking as some members have discussed above.
