Time and again, actors make the transition from small screen to big screen but invain. Isn't it just about everyone's dream to do a Shah Rukh Khan, whose journey after the small screen is already the stuff of history? But there's something different about Sushant Singh Rajput, who has had a successful stint on the telly.

Sources close to the actor tell us that even though many big filmmakers had approached Rajput, he didn't give in and went ahead only when UTV Motion Pictures struck a two-film deal with him. His first film as leading man, Kai Po Che!, being directed by Abhishek Kapoor, is expected to release early next year.

Now the actor has added another feather to his cap. According to trade sources, Rajkumar Hirani has signed him to play the second hero in his film Peekay. The source reveals that Hirani was extremely moved with the screen test the newbie did for the film.

PS: We're told that Rajput was also approached by Yash Raj Films for a three-film deal but the actor had already signed on the dotted line with UTV. But when Hirani approached Rajput, neither the actor nor the corporate house could say 'no' to him.

The bold sentence above says everything and we do not need any justification that Sushant could not have done any role he was given. Sometimes I wished he could have done this older version of Manav but then I am thankful he did not stick around cause he stood by the character he molded and portrayed, he refused to do the extra marital affair so how could he have agreed to do the separation track again. and again it is undermined that if he came back as the aggressive manav, he and ankita would not have pulled it off and would have laughed - it seems it is forgotten when they first separated that they were already a couple in real life, but is it okay, each to its own.

For me, Sushant will always be the only Manav (i do not watch the show anymore).

Sushant is called as next big actor on bw even before release of his first film. utv,yrf and raju hirani all want to sign him. Really proud of u Sushant

This is amazing news and wow Sushant already being wanted by so many production houses before his first movie even comes out is wonderful news! There are many fans who want their fave TV actors to be in films but that don't work out, I hope it works out for Sushant, he's a great package deal- good looks, talented actor and dancer, and most importantly a warm and wonderful personality!
