Both of them looked at each other, wondering the same thing. What was going on between Rey and Kriya?

Chapter 7

Kat cleared her throat on purpose. That still didn't do the trick. Rey and Kriya were too immersed in their own world to realize their surroundings. She tried again and then again. The third time around, both of them blinked at the same time; suddenly conscious about Kat and Christian being around.

Kriya spoke up fumbling for words. "I – uh – thank you for teaching me the step; I need to go." And she rushed past the other two. She had made it seem like Rey was simply teaching her a dance step.

It was hard to pretend though. Even after running outside, her heart was beating fast; almost running a marathon! It was impossible to control it. She somewhere shied recalling the intimacy.

Inside, Rey tried hard to concentrate on Kat and Christian but it was almost impossible. His head kept on wandering back to Kriya, wanting to know where she was. He didn't want another uncomfortable misunderstanding brewing up between them. His eyes then fell on her bag. She had left it there. He could then relax a bit, knowing that she will be back to take them. Surely, she won't be able to go home without her car keys and cell phone.

Sharon walked in the small exotic looking caf and searched for Vaibhavi. A second later, she found her sitting by the corner. She walked up to her and took a seat. "So, how are things going?"

"They're the same as before! It's as if they don't even realize the other is there. If I wasn't smart, I'd say they were pretending… I don't know what to think of it all. They just confuse me so much!" Vaibhavi replied without waiting to take a breath.

"Ok… slow down. We still have few days before the competition begins. That will give them few more rehearsals together. The night before competition is to begin; we will shoot our last arrow. That should do the trick.

"You better hope it works out. Or else all the work will go to waste."

"It won't. Trust me…I know both of them. I've even talked to Kriya last night. It'll all work out according to the plan."

"It won't." A third voice said. Both of them looked up to see who it belonged to. Sharon gave a wide smile seeing Karan there! "Sir, what a pleasant surprise!" she said getting up to greet him. They shared a sideways hug and both took a seat. Introductions with Vaibhavi were done.

She asked, "Why will it not work? You don't even know our final part."

"I know… whatever you guys have planned; it's not going to work. Do you think they are stupid? They'll figure it out in a second!"

"Then what do you suggest?" Sharon asked.

"What I say is…" the rest goes mute.

Kriya walked around the back yard of the place. She found Tara there, sitting on the bench, still fuming. She smiled and walked up to her. "Hey! Why are you sitting here?"

"Hi." Tara replied back with no enthusiasm in her voice. Kriya seemed to understand the reason why.

She advised, "You know, boys will be boys. They do silly things all the time. That is just their way of showing their love. You shouldn't get affected much. If he truly loves you, you're going to be the last person he'll always come back to."

"I know he loves me… I love him too… But I just can't handle it anymore. He's always playing around and never serious. How can I trust him?!" she replied back stating her fears. And there it went again; another trust issue in another love story.

Kriya laughed out to herself. Tara looked back at her; half offended and half confused. "What? Why are you laughing?!"

"Sorry…Couldn't help it. Your questions reminded me of myself. "Listen, you can never know when you can truly trust him. He's a guy after all. Your heart will just know. There never is a particular moment for it. But just don't give him a chance to not trust you. A slight gesture can ruin everything and at the same it, it could make everything. You have to be wise to know which one is right depending on the situation."

Tara simply stared back at her, intently listening to the reply. She couldn't help but blurt out. "You talk as if you have gone through this."

Kriya stayed mum looking at her. A few seconds later, she paused and smiled. "You seem smart. You know what to do."

With that, she got up to go back inside. She had just taken a couple of steps when Tara called her. "Kriya?" When she looked back, she continued, "Thank you."

"Anytime." Kriya replied and turned around to leave.

As she walked back in, Kriya knew what she had to do next with her relationship with Rey. Somehow, talking to Tara had made her confidence come back. She wasn't going to let the trust thing come in the way again. She opened the door to the room with a broad smile on her face.

The trio stopped when she walked in. "Oh go on, don't let me stop you guys. I'm just here for my bag."

Seeing the chirpy Kriya, Rey was taken aback. He wondered what might have changed her mood. Picking up her bag, she stopped to write something on a piece of paper. She then walked up to Rey and said, "The address that you wanted of the designer."

Handing it to him, she left. Rey was left confused again. Designer? Address? What was she talking about! Kat and Christian found nothing fishy and they continued working on their steps. Rey took the opportunity to unfold the paper and read:

"I'm waiting for you by my car. Don't come rushing out either. They'll be suspicious…if they aren't already."

He controlled his happiness reading the note. It almost seemed as if he knew what would happen next. As she has pointed out, they might be suspicious. Thus, he let them practice while he texted Kriya. Call me after 10 minutes so I can make an excuse.

Kriya read the text and did exactly that. When Rey's cell rang, he pretended to talk while Kriya simply muffled in laughs. Ending the call, he told the other two. "Sorry guys, I need to leave right now. It's urgent. Will you be okay by yourselves?"

"Yea sure. No problemo." Christian replied back.

"Just shut the lights as you leave. The locks are automatic." He advised and left.

Once outside, he ran up to Kriya's car and slipped in the passenger's seat. Without waiting for him to say anything, she started driving.

"Kriya, where are we going?"

"You'll see." She replied back and after that, she continued driving. She wouldn't reply to any of Rey's questions; which only made him more eager to find out. Around half an hour later, Rey saw familiar surroundings and wondered what was going on in her mind. She stopped few minutes after that and came out of the car.

Rey followed. Both of them stood by the front gates of St. Louis! The flash backs of all their memorable moments rushed back to them. Kriya said, "Come on," and taking him by his hand, pulled him inside.

No one was there seeing that it was a weekend. Both of them walked the corridors of the college together in ample silence. They didn't have to speak. The memories they were reliving as they walked by spoke in volumes. They finally stopped by the fire escape. Together, with either of their hands, they pushed the door open.

Thousands of spent memories rushed back to them there as well. They climbed down the stairs. The familiar scent of their presence surrounded them. It was as if just tomorrow, they were in college, having the time of their life. It didn't seem as if years had passed by!

Kriya continued to take a step down but Rey stood where he was. He grabbed her hand softly, stopping her from continuing. She looked back at him to question. He replied, "What are we doing here, Kriya?"

She smiled, walked up the stair so they're at the same level and replied. "I'm ready."

"What?" Rey asked not sure he heard her correctly.

"Yes, I'm ready. Enough of this hiding away. We both know we love each other. Then why the distance? I'm tired of it. I can't continue to hide. I want to give us another chance. And this time, make it work."

"Rey could see all that she wanted to say in her eyes. The smile, after a long time, seemed to have touched her eyes. He couldn't be more happy then this! He took her in a bone crushing hug; neither of them cared. What mattered was they would be together and they would work things out together.

Breaking from the hug after a while, Rey promised. "I won't hurt you this time."

To make things light, Kriya replied back. "You better not. Or else I won't spare you this time."

"Oh really?" Rey said pressing her close to him, with a naughty mood.

A gasp escaped her throat. She hadn't expected that coming. "Rey, stop it." she warned him, with a mischievous demand in her eyes.

"Hmm… I'll have to think about that."

"Rey!" she pleaded.

"Okay, but with a price."

"Price"

"Yes, tonight… dinner… with me… just you and me." he demanded.

"And if I say no?" she asked just for the sake of it.

To reply to that, he simply pulled her even closer and whispered in her ear, making her heart flutter. "Then…" His breath on her nape… made her shiver even more. She shut her eyes shut. His closeness always managed to make her heart throb hard.

Just as fast as he had gone closer, he pulled back, knowing it had done the trick. She was too weak to argue. "So tonight, 8:00 pm. I'll pick you up." She blushed in reply.

As Kat and Christian wrapped up their practice session, Kat asked, "So what do you think is between Reyansh and Kriya?"

"What do you mean?" he asked the typical question a guy would.

"Gosh Christian! Did you not see how close they were? It was as if they were oblivious of the world. They seemed to be somewhere else."

"You and your girl fantasies!" he remarked them, refusing to listen to that explanation. They walked out. "They were simply practicing and if the step was intimate, what's wrong with that? While dancing, you sometimes have to let go of your comfort level."

"Whatever, don't believe me now. But I'm telling you, it didn't seem 'nothing' to me."

"What didn't seem nothing?" Tara caught up to them as asked.

"Oh nothing; just random talks. I'll leave you two alone." Kat quickly said and left.

Once Kat left, Tara turned to Christian. "I'm sorry. I was foolish. I should have trusted you."

That came as a surprise to him. He had thought he would have to please her lot in order to make her forgive him. But here, the opposite was happening.

"Are you feeling okay? I should be the one apologizing!"

"I'm fine. And you should be… But it was my mistake too. I need to learn to trust you more. I get insecure a lot. I'm sorry for that…"

"And I'm sorry for what happened. I'll try to change that."

She smiled and he asked, unsure if she would say yes. "SO, what say? Dinner?"

"Sounds good." She replied with a grin. Kat popped back in out of nowhere.

"Make that a table for three!"

The couple gave her dagger looks for overhearing on their private conversation. "What? It's not like you both can hide anything! Plus, my stomach screams for food too. I'm not gonna have dinner by myself on my first day in India, am I?"

She stepped in between them both and wrapped her arms around their, walking together while she was in the middle.

"See, I'm your best friend. I'll stick by you guys through, thick and thin." She announced.

"Best friends… right… How could I forget!? No privacy." Christian muttered back cursing her under his breath for coming in between.

"Get over it whiney boy. I'm not gonna go away. If want some time along with Tara, then you're going to have to work hard."

Christian rolled his eyes while Tara giggled at his plight.

Since I can only update once a month, I tend on giving long updates... Only fair to those who eagerly wait for updates. Really hope this time the likes comes faster.. It's time the season 2 gets interesting!
