Chapter 8

Evening rolled around and it would soon be night. As Kriya was getting ready, she felt glad that Sharon had decided to go out on a dinner with Swayam! She was happy to have the house to herself. She wouldn't have to make an excuse in front of Sharon. Just as the clock struck 8, the doorbell rang. She laughed to herself as she rushed down the stairs to open the door.

"How early did you come?" she asked, knowing that he was waiting outside for the clock to strike 8.

"How did you know?"

"Oh come on; I think I know you by now." she replied back.

He looked at her, top to bottom, dressed in a purple dress, looking as magnificent as never before. "You look beautiful." He complimented.

She grinned and replied, "Thank you!"

"Chale?" he asked and she nodded.

The dinner passed by with no awkwardness between them. They simply had the best time after years! Both of them were together and what more could they ask for? They were mending their relationship and that was for the best. Everything was perfect for the moment.

While having their desert, Kriya's eyes fell on the entrance. Her eyes went wide seeing the couple entering. Instantly, she turned around to hide her face and nudged Rey to look towards the entrance. He, too, became aware.

The couple was none other than Swayam and Sharon. He whispered and asked, "What are they doing here?"

"Remember they were going out for dinner?" she replied back in the same whispery tone.

"They had to choose this spot." He spoke back angrily.

"We need to go." Kriya said and he agreed to it. They paid their bill and got up. While walking out the door, Sharon and Swayam walked past them. Kriya and Rey did well in hiding their faces from them.

Once they were outside, they took a sigh of relief and burst out laughing. It surely was going to be fun hiding their continuing relationship from everyone. Unaware of the next problem coming their way, Rey entwined his hand in hers as they then walked towards their car.

Rey drove towards the beach and parked in. Both of them lay on the front bonnet, just lying there and looking up at the sky. Their life was just as complicated as counting the stars in the sky.

Rey slowly let his hand come on top of hers. She was aware of it but did not respond. It didn't need a respond. They were moving along and it was normal for couples to hold hands.

"You know, it's going to be a problem to lie to Sharon and Swayam till the end of the competition." Kriya spoke up.

"I know… they find out everything about us and lying to them straight for about 2 months is not going to be easy."

"And Swayam already suspects something is going on. It'll only be a matter of time before Sharon starts suspecting as well."

"I don't like all this lying. It only creates misunderstandings and they always hurt a lot, even if it is meant well for the other person."

"I don't want to do this either, Can't we just tell them?"

She turned to look at him when he stayed silent. "I don't know…" he finally spoke up. "I know they will be quite, but if they find out, they might get really excited. And right now, we're just coming back to restarting our relationship…"

She nodded, completely understanding his objections. She sat up. "Know what; let's not worry about that right now. We're out on a date. And since when did a date with Reyansh Singhania not go exciting?"

He sat up as well. "You want exciting huh?" He jumped down and stood in front of her. A second later, he held her by her waist.

"Rey, what are you doing?"

"Just helping you down." he replied with a smirk as he lifted her and helped her stand on her heels.

The beach wind was picking up, making her hair flow up front and bother her. She held them back but it wasn't enough. She turned frustrated and faced her back to him. He chuckled at her expression.

"You asked for it." he took a step towards her and whispered in her ear. Her body went cold with the voice and the wind wasn't helping.

Wondering what he meant by that, she turned around to look at him. He wasn't there. She skimmed the perimeter and he was nowhere to be found. She freaked. "Rey? Rey, where are you? Rey!"

No answer. She ran around in the sand trying to locate him. "Rey, this is no time for jokes. Just come out please." She pleaded. Again, no answer. "Okay, I get it. I asked for it but enough now, come out." She spoke up loudly then before.

Him not being anywhere around scared her now. Pulling her hair back, a tear escaped her eyes.

Suddenly, another whisper behind her in her ear. "Boo!" She turned quickly to see no one there. When she turned back to face her front, he was standing in front of her.

And he had succeeded in his joke. She playfully hit his chest twice and hugged him tight. He laughed without realizing that it has really scared the life out of her. "Rey, it's not funny. Do you have any idea how worried I was?!"

He made her look at him when he felt his shirt wet. "Hey, Kriya… please don't cry. I didn't mean to scare you."

"I don't want to lose you again." She voiced out her fear.

He held her by her cheeks and replied, looking right into her eyes. "Relax baatcutter. I'm not going anywhere. Not this time. And I won't let you go either. We're gonna be with each other no matter what."

She believed him and hugged him again.

The water touched their feet with each tide. Kriya's head rested on his shoulder while his hands were wrapped around her waist. Silence followed. The sound of the waves crashing on the shore was the only heard sound, other than their own hearts beating. The chirpy sound of the night screeched through their ears as well. The wind howled and it was a perfect moment.

She trembled in the cold. So to speak, it wasn't winter. Yet, the wind and the breeze from the beach made the surroundings cold. "We should probably head back." Rey suggested seeing her cold. "Besides, you're wearing a dress. You'll catch a cold."

He was about to get up when she pulled him back down. "No. Stay. I like it here. It has been forever since my heart is at rest. It's finally home… where it truly belongs… with you."

He smiled at her words and sat back down; giving her a peck on her forehead. "Well, if we're going to stay here, then wrap this around you." He replied, taking out his coat and giving it to her. She wore it but got up and extended her hand to him. He took it and got up as well. Without a word, they started walking alongside the shore.

While walking, Kriya again rested her head against his shoulder. "You know, it's going to be hard to keep my distance from you once the competition begins."

"Who says you have to?" Rey said back, intending a double meaning.

She lifted her head and interrogated, "Rey?"

"What? I'm not going to do anything!" He replied back and both resumed walking. "Vaibhavi gave us the opportunity herself. The rehearsals." And then he winked.

She understood the meaning and blushed. As everyone knows, dance is all about the chemistry and the feelings one brings up from the simplest thing around. These rehearsal times would serve as the only thing that would give them time together. At home, they cannot freely meet as they decided to not tell Swayam and Sharon just yet.

"What if someone finds out? I mean you're the judge… I'm the participant. They might think you're being partial because you love me and we're seeing each other."

"Then we'll just make sure they don't find out." Rey concluded for her.

"You're going to be making it hard."

"Me? How?"

"From the way you always gaze at me when I'm dancing. I'm sure there'll at least be one person who figures it out."

He laughed at that. "That's your fault darling. Why do you have to be so graceful when you dance? It's just your charm that always does it's magic on me."

"Oh, I can't help that. Natural talent, you see?" She teased back.

"Nice. You wanna know my natural talent?" he said forming a smirk on his face.

"Hmm, I dunno. Do I?" she asked with one brow raised.

"Well then, let's find out." He replied and turned her to face him. He pulled her up closer and she gasped at the sudden movement. Her body went numb with the intimacy as she searched the depths of his eyes.

He then tickled her and she jumped back, trying to escape; giggling. But he held her tight in his grasp. She managed to get out of his trap and immediately took out her heels, making a run for it.

He gave her an 'it's on' look at ran behind her. She barely escaped from him twice. The third time around, he grabbed her and pulled her strongly; so she wouldn't escape again. She continued giggling, unaware of the intense gaze he had on her. The laughing face of her's enchanted him. It had been a long time since he had seen her laughing openly with nothing to bother her.

When he didn't say a word and just held on to her, she felt his gaze. She dared to look at him and was dazzled into his looks as well. Gently, he pulled her even closer to him, one hand around her waist while the other outlined her face slowly with intimacy.

Her breath fastened and so did her heart. She closed her eyes and hugged him, to escape from his gaze. It was already dark around as it was around midnight. Only the enchanting light from the half-moon above their heads shined.

He moved her hair away, to reveal her back nape and bent down to kiss it softly. She moaned in pleasure as her hormones started acting up. Slowly he moved to her cheek and finally pulled her back to see her face. He called it a night with a final kiss on her lips. It started out soft and then filled with lust and hunger. As they parted, short on breath, her lips curved up in a smile and gave him a sided hug; a deep blush forming on her cheek.

Rey pulled up silently on her driveway. She muttered under her breath, "Damn it. Sharon's back home."

"Well, duh! It's around 2 a.m." Rey remarked back.

"How am I going to in? If she's still awake, what am I gonna tell her? I can't go in like this." She added looking at her dress.

He thought and then said, "Come on." He got out of the car and walking around, opened the door for her as well. He led her towards the side of the house. "You still have the ladder here." He said with a grin.

"What? You're not going to tell me to sneak into my own house, are you?"

"Do you have a better plan?" he asked and she stayed quiet. "Didn't think so." He commented and pulled the ladder up to her window.

"I can't climb in these heels." She complained.

"Has your brain gone to sleep? Take them off."

She did saying, "Fine, cranky much?!"

"Sorry." He said realizing he was being mean to her. "After you." He said as he gave her his hand.

She stopped and stood on the ground. "Na-uh. You're not coming in. You're going home."

"What? Seriously? I can't even drop you to your room safely?" he pouted.

"You can watch me get in from down here. You're not coming inside at this hour."

"Why? Afraid something might happen?" he teased.

She ruffled his hair and said after giving him a quick hug. "Be good. Good night."

"Love you." He said finally accepting that he would have to go home.

"Love you too." He again helped her climb and watched her climb in the window. She waved at him and he left after pulling the ladder back down. She smiled recalling how well their night had went. Suddenly, the lights were turned on in her room. She was caught. She shut her eyes tight before reopening them and turned around to face the person.
