Sudhir Mishra's 'Dhruv' finally set to roll

The director has started reworking on his long-in-the-planning political drama starring Farhan Akhtar, Kareena Kapoor and Chitrangada Singh

Way back in 2009, Sudhir Mishra had spoken about his plans to make Dhruv, his own magnum opus. The film was scheduled to star Farhan Akhtar, Kareena Kapoor and Chitrangada Singh.

However, courtesy the lead actors Farhan and Kareena getting busy with their other professional commitments, the film never saw light of the day. But now word is that the director has again started work on the film.

Sudhir tells us, "Yes, I'm reviving Dhruv and I'm re-working the script completely. The shooting will take place soon after I finish working on Mehrunissa." The film, a political drama, is said to be produced by Farhan and his production house partner Ritesh Sidhwani. It remains to be seen if Kareena will still give her dates for the film.

And before anyone raises a finger at Kareena's PR again, here's a statement given by Sudhir in 2010.

Farhan Akhtar and Sudhir Mishra won't make Dhruv, the new version of Devdas, without Kareena Kapoor as the contemporary Paro.

There was some thought over shifting Mishra's favourite Chitrangada into Kareena's role, but the producer-director has decided that he will not make Dhruv until Kareena agrees to do the role.

"It works only with Kareena, no one else. I'm willing to go down on my knees to get her to do the film.

But she can't say no. It's a role specially written for her," says Mishra.

Apparently Kareena has reservations about the film because it's a Farhan Akhtar production and named after his character in the film.

"We call the film Dhruv, but her character Pooja is as important," clarifies Sudhir Mishra.

"Devdas is now Dhruv and Paro is Pooja.

It's now more like Shakespeare's Hamlet than Devdas.

I can't imagine anyone but Kareena in the role."

LOL! Thats the hundredth film announced starring Kareena kapoor in the near future!!!

and anyway better to show a quote from recent times.

i've to admit even if i deny kareena rules bollywood leading lady she's as gorgeous as rocking all big projects comes to her way once she refuses others gets chance to step in.bebo you've a long way to go
