was karthik parvati's son or only mahadev's??

can you please help me??..there are 2 theories about skanda/kartikeya's birth

acc to kumarsamvabam kartikeya was born with mahadev's tej (power or sperm??😕) in an agnikunda

and in some versions i read skanda was agni and swaha's son...swaha took the disguise of wives of the 6 rishis among saptarshi .as agni was attracted to them..and took agni's sperm...and kept those in some kund but she couldn't take vashishth wife arundhuti's disguise...and then those 6 rishis doubted on their wives and drove them out and those 6 kritika's brought up skanda and that's why skanda's name was kartikeya

but in these 2 theories there was no mention of parvati' being his mother

so please help such ignorant people like me..by answering my question

and also lord ganesha was not parvati and mahadev's son i think he was created by parvati only

so there were no children of shiv-parvati together right??

and if parvati is not responsible for mahadev's son's birth then why devta's say that shiv-parvati marriage means end of tarkasur??

The question for your answer lies in the development history of Lord Shiva as a deity.

In Vedic age Shiva was minor deity generally identified with rudra. as gradually the popularity of shiva increased he became increasingly identified with Agni.

there are many similar qualities between agni and shiva as the popularity of shiva increased
shiva absorbed important vedic god agni and his qualities like destructive nature etc.

so that origins of Shiva are the reasons for confusion in the birth of kartikeya. however the first version you mentioned is the official version as all the major shaiva puranas endorse that.

Regarding parvathi being mother of skanda. there can be no doubt that she was indeed mother of kartikeya as one of the navadurga forms itself is skanda mata with skanda on her lap.

regarding the details i have no idea, would love some info from other forum members.

Kartikeya is born The angels were successful even in that difficult task. They so managed that Shiva set his eyes upon Parvati and was pleased with the penance and devotion of Parvati. He married her. In course of time, on the sixth day of first half of the month of Margashira, Parvati gave birth to a son. Hence, that day is known as 'Skanda Shashti'. Even at birth Kartikeya had the divine weapons of Shakti, Shoola and Mahastra in his hands. Hearing of his birth, the Krittika angels came and fondled him. They nourished him with their breast- feeding.

There is no doubt the Parvati is the mother of Kartikeya and Mahadev the father of Ganesha

Maa parvati and mahadev are origin of universe and we all are part of supreme consiousness..these characters are symbolisms..

@Meera true thats the eternal truth. But if we take just the story then also Kartikeya is the son of Mata Parvati as she us the one who evoked the teju to come out. Also in our scriptures the child od one spouse is the considered the child of the other spouse

i m new here. i would like say all right in some extent. all peaces of puzzle makes a complete story. according My version as per god -_child said teju from mahadev and mata parvathi'union carried byagni dev earth whi h is divied in to six children in a lake and latter taken cared by krithkas. then latter become one by mahadevs blessings. he was brought by ganga as per some version.
As for gansha he was build from mata parvathis sweat or impurities latter accepted by maha dev as his son
