I think we are being harsh on this young lady. Remember she was new to the country. He probably limited her thinking by scaring her. She didn't know any better.

I agree about the door, leave something to block it from closing but again, when you are under so much pressure it is hard to think logically. Add to that fear, hunger, a new country and language. It can be scary.

Still, there are some questions about the events.

yep i agree...😊.

But I don't get one point where she said her husband broke the filter and she was without water for 4 days.
I don't think you must drink filtered water in US. Tap water is good too. I live in Canada and we don't even have a filter at home. Tap water as good if not better than bottled water.

Did anyone else find it weird?

I do agree with you I live in New York even if u scream the neighbors call the cops what the hell was she waiting for. I don,t think that can happen in the US she could have left the door open and ask for help as it is he had taken away all the valuables with him.

Canada's tap water actually tastes good...i live in the US and the tap water is gross! We filter our water before we drink it.

I don't necessarily live in the US but I live in Canada. I know that here and similarly in the US tap water can be an issue. I have lived in a house here where the tap water was very unhealthy and tastes very bad. Usually what happens is that a lot of the water in these countries is hard water running through the smaller towns so if people don't have water softeners which are intended to remove all of the extra heavy metals found in hard water the water does not give the same nutrients in fact it will hurt you more making you sick. That might have been her problem.

What I find wrong here is that everyone here is questioning the story of the victim when you are suppose to be supportive of them. They go through so much mental abuse that no one in their right minds under so much abuse can think clearly. In many situations calling 911 does not come to mind. Just like she could have called 911, she could have seen a neighbor who I doubt would refuse help in such a position. But i think the point was that she was so helpless and hurt from the mental abuse that she could not think clearly.

In some areas depending on where you live the tap water isn't good enough to drink.

And I guess coming from India she also wouldn't know that tap water is necessarily okay because in India it is very important to drink filtered water.

But most of all, tap water isn't okay everywhere. Some areas of US make it VERY IMPORTANT to drink filtered water only.
