She had very sad story to tell and I fully sympathize with what she has gone through.
But I don't get one point where she said her husband broke the filter and she was without water for 4 days.
I don't think you must drink filtered water in US. Tap water is good too. I live in Canada and we don't even have a filter at home. Tap water as good if not better than bottled water.

Did anyone else find it weird?

I found that very strange. Even if she was new to the country she still could put something between the doors and go out and ask for help. It was not like her husband was keeping an eye on her. I truly sympathize with her but I can't understand why she could not get help for four days and even water for that matter. May be she was too scared and weak to help herself. All of us go through hard times at some point in our lives where we need to make some harsh decisions. Some of us are capable of taking actions immediately and some of us just keep enduring whatever happens to us until we can.

I am more surprised why she did not call up women's cell earlier or call the police or something! Why did she starve for so long? Why not make any effort to escape?

I was born and raised in California, depending on geographical tea, water does not taste the same. I went to college in AZ and water there was gross. Now I'm in Va, disgusting but I would drink it if needed to survive.

I think we are being harsh on this young lady. Remember she was new to the country. He probably limited her thinking by scaring her. She didn't know any better.

I agree about the door, leave something to block it from closing but again, when you are under so much pressure it is hard to think logically. Add to that fear, hunger, a new country and language. It can be scary.

Still, there are some questions about the events.

i was wondering about it myself- 911? Hello? Maybe she did not know. But then, if she knew about the women's cell, she did not know about 911?? But such abuse is worse because the men pick on such "weak" females. They know they can bully them ( timid, scared of my own shadow kinds) into doing what they tell them. The relationship between the abuser and the abused is almost hypnotic to say the least. Each one of us who are writing so freely in this forum should be grateful that we did not have to deal with such situations. Our blessings and well wishes need to reach out to these individuals who do not know how to help themselves. We need to send them healing to become a strong person to be able to handle the world without fear- that is where true education of values comes into play.

I totally sympathize with her, but I don't know why is tolerated all that. She lived in US for few months and she probably knew the emergency number. why didn't she call 911? They would've came right away and helped her.

lolz i found it strange too, i live in Australia and tap water is fine for drinking here.
i guess she didn't call police or women cell earlier coz she was scared that her husband wud leave her and she was too scared to take any step. i mean come on, that girl didn't even tell her parents after he strangled her. i guess she had no confidence left to take a step.he messed wid her head badly.
