Remember films in 80's where one hereo used to beat up 10000 goon at same time while heroine do nothing but smile and dance and victim of hero's chedkhaani

Villian was typical women molster type who gets killed easily

Stpry what story story gayo tel lene

acting ki to baat hi chod don

and this was 80's cinema and with this sudden emregnce of "masla" genre seem like we are heading back to that directon

funny thing not while ago 80's was called "worst decade " in bollywood ab hum ussie genre ko accept kar rahe hain

koi baat nahi it wont be long when same genre will become CURSE than blessing and u all will ask WHAT WENT WRONG and i will be and giving

I TOLD U SO comment

I remember reading against "art cinema" while back here well this is my rant against JUVENILE entertainment called "masala"

u are welcome

Strange coincidence...I was thinking the same. But I feel there is also hope. 80s solely had massy films while the art films were relegated to festival circuit. No one even heard of them except the film-makers themselves. That was the worst decade for cinema.
Now thanks to twitter and internet in general there is lots of awareness about small films and alternate cinema. Thus we had Kahaani, PST and VD do well despite lacking typical commercial elements. So finally we as viewers have a choice. Thus we have a non-commercial Shanghai which will run side by side with Rowdy Rathore in cinemas. What you want to watch is your choice.

I like the current trend,a mix of both kinds of films...one that's no brainer but commercial and one which makes you think even after the movie ends...i also wish that this balance remains the same in the coming years...the masala entertainers have something that these thought provoking movies don't have..dhinchak and colorful dance and music...which is an exclusive of Indian cinema and can't be found anywhere else...and the other kind of alternative cinema has content which is missing in such masala entertainers...i need the perfect mix of both.

but dont u think that balance is shifting it seems more balance lean towards masla films than serious films

See movie can be "masala" without sacrificng CONTENT

i feel 3 idiots was masala film which suited both classes and masses

Take INCEPTION in hollywood that movie added "masala" with intellect script or even THE AVENGERS this year

even in bollywood SHOLAY was masala but u didnt see weak script

MY POINT IS bollywood consider masla as where there is no need for good stopry but STAR SHOW

i don't like watching any movie coming now , they make me feel boredom rather than keeping me amused . all films before 2006 were worth watching ..
