Part 7: Pensieve

That first day she'd rained into his room by mistake and then as the old adage goes, she'd poured herself everywhere he'd gone there after: meetings, team introductions and then she'd even showed up at his gym. But, the very next day she'd disappeared without so much as a trace in the name of customary training that new employees had to undergo for a minimum of two days.

Come Thursday, he couldn't help but acknowledge the faint concern about her possibly healing cut that drifted in and out of his conscious as slick as an evading thief, but only growing larger in its presence with every appearance it made. It was also only then he fully realized that the lady his Daadi had orchestrated to meet in his office had never shown up to start with. Strangely, that night at dinner his Daadi hadn't broached the subject either. Well, that had also been the first time his Daadi didn't go about giving him the long,ordinary justifications such stood ups demanded, especially when they were arranged.

The irony of it all prickled his skin when it had been the one time he'd vaguely made up his mind to openly gauge the possibility of such an arrangement having any future at all and the prospective dame had run the other way.

And then of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world, she had walked into his...

That moment, however uncredited, the annoying similarity between Isla and her didn't escape him entirely - they were both married and taken.

His phone chimed then telling him of an upcoming meeting that was to start in another 15 mts. Oh! What the hell...He got up from his seat, squared his shoulders and prepared himself for whatever that was going to rain over him that day for the next one hour.
