Katrina Kaif trolled over postpartum look, Shivaleeka Oberoi hits back: ‘This is motherhood!’

Shivaleeka Oberoi has called out social media users for trolling Katrina Kaif over her postpartum appearance. The actress recently shared an Instagram Story featuring Katrina and questioned the harsh reactions directed at her after a rare public outing.

Katrina had stepped out in Mumbai on August 26 with husband Vicky Kaushal to attend the prayer meet of filmmaker Kuku Kohli, who passed away on August 25. It marked one of Katrina’s few public appearances since she became a mother.

Katrina opted for a simple, understated look for the solemn occasion. However, instead of focusing on the reason for her appearance, a section of social media users began commenting on her body and appearance.

Katrina Gets Trolled Over Her Postpartum Appearance

Several comments targeted Katrina’s weight and changed appearance after childbirth. One user questioned what had happened to the actress, while another compared her appearance to a rasgulla. Another comment went as far as saying that Katrina had become ‘100% Indianized’ and even criticised the way she walked.

The comments sparked criticism of the larger expectations placed on women, especially new mothers, to quickly return to their pre-pregnancy bodies.

Shivaleeka, who herself became a mother a few months ago, shared one such post on her Instagram Story and strongly disagreed with the criticism. She wrote, “Kya ho gaya hai means?!?! This is Motherhood!”

‘Stop Glorifying A Version Of Motherhood That Doesn’t Exist’

Taking the conversation further, Shivaleeka pointed out that postpartum recovery does not look the same for every woman. She wrote, 'This is what normal postpartum recovery looks like – the good, the bad, the bloating, the exhaustion and everything in between.'

She also urged people to stop creating unrealistic expectations around motherhood, adding, 'Stop glorifying a version of motherhood that doesn’t exist.'

Katrina and Vicky welcomed their first child, son Vihaan Kaushal, on November 7, 2025, after announcing their pregnancy in September that year. The couple, who married in December 2021, have largely kept their family life private.

Since welcoming Vihaan, Katrina has stayed away from the spotlight and kept her work commitments limited. Her last release was Merry Christmas with Vijay Sethupathi in 2024. Her recent appearance has now once again brought attention to the pressure female celebrities face over their bodies, even during deeply personal phases of life.
